A fascinating first person account as an Anthropologist Solomon's work is a fascinating first hand account of interaectionality of injustice and the hypocrisy of Citizenshipship in the United States and embodied the sentiment of Fredrich Douglas the circumstances of slavery made the slave.The Narrator was brilliant in reflecting the emotion and humour of the the text where appropriate.

Solomon Northup is an American hero, and truly one of the greatest writers in history, seeing as how his work has survived over a 160 years, it speaks for it's self, not bad for a man who was once a slave. If you haven't listened to this audio book, you really should. It's literally life changing. It's that powerful.

This was a surprise. I expected to like it, but it was much better than I imagined. It was great entertainment but more importantly, it made me really think about the slavery in a way I never had before. Awesome!
