Unabridged Audiobook
After "You've been Warned" I needed Patterson to redeem himself. He did. In my opinion this is the second best of the WMC series behind only 4th of July. The way he keeps changing the WMC characters but keeps it working for me is incredible. Reading one of the mainstays dies is not what you expect, but here, in this story, it worked. Good stuff
Gosh! I did not expect to have one of the hero's killed in this book. I had started off with the newer books in the series and via SAB.com got the 1 and 2 issue now this third book. I just realized that the members of the club are not the same in the beginning of the series as is in the later books. Boy am I observant! Enjoyed the book and the travel about the bay area via the story.
This is a great series of books for light listening. Great stroy lines and excellent reader. This is a hard one because you lose one of the favorite characters in the book but it is a well written book and great to listen to. It will hold your interest for sure.
Nakes you want to be one of the club. narrator is awesome
Does not disappoint. Great book great narrator.
Great read
3rd in the series - I’ve listened to the first two and this does not disappoint. Captivating and full of unexpected twists. Patterson is very good at getting you so invested in the characters that you’ll have real emotional shifts as the story plays out. The ONLY thing I’m not overwhelmed with is the narrator. There’s just something about her cadence/ tone/ rhythm I’m not thrilled with. In the 2nd one Jeremy Pivens narrates as the villain in and out and that was fantastic. This one. Definite recommendation. Invest in this series. You won’t be disappointed.
Well thanks to Jean, as soon as one of the main characters went missing, I knew she was dead. Putting that aside, great book! Love this series.
Good story line as always. However the narrator was subpar. I wish they would have completely left out the sound effects and music behind the narration, it was unnecessary and distracting
Love this series!
Great book I was sorry to see it end Greg meadows
The book was outstanding but I could have done without the sound affects which were annoying and distracting. The narrator could have been good had she not tried to make up accents and change voices for each chars Ted. It was not realistic .
keeps you on the edge of your seat, excellent plot
I agree with others that the narrator is annoying to the point of ruining this book...I couldn't stand listening to her ridiculous accents and idiotic intonations. I will certainly never listen to a book again if she is the narrator.
I have loved the other Murder Book Club books and I was so disappointed with The 3rd Degree (which I hadn't read earlier) that I did not finish it.
This is another great book. You will enjoy it. The story captivated my curiosity enough to stay with me after the book finished. Again, listen and enjoy.
Strong pilot, fast listening, keep my interest, not at the top if my best read books, just o.k. book. Roll down the road and you'll be entertained.
I'm sure this was another great Patterson story. I've certainly enjoyed the others I've listened to. But, the reader on this book was so annoying and made up such silly voices for the characters that I could hardly pay attention to the story line. Just read the damned book, don't act it out. I'll let my imagination supply the cheesey accents. She turned the characters into cartoons and completely ruined the story for me.
This story was great! Very interesting, very captivating. It was sad too. This is one of the very best of the Women's Murder Club stories. It was really good. The narrator is outstanding.
Enjoyed it. Kept me interested the whole way. Rent if you like strong female lead characters.
I have read most of James Patterson's books. He can't write them quickly enough. This one is the best I have read in awhile. I enjoyed the pace of it and the mystery it posed through out. At a few points I didn't want to stop listening (I read by C.D.'s.) I found myself sitting in my car in the garage listening intently. If you like a good mystery, this will defintely please you.
I am always caught up in a good crime story, and this one kept me interested. however, the love story was lame and trite (written by a man....and not rendered as a woman would experience it). Listen for the suspense, not the romance.
Very entertaining. Can't wait for the movie version. I'll never drive thru Berkeley again without thinking of this story. I take one star off becasue I thought the ending could have been better.
As usual, this was a great book. However, I hated to lose one of the Murder club. That was totally unexpected. I'd rather lost Her husband.....highly recommended!
I enjoyed the story and the reader I thought it was a good story. The characters were great and the story moved along well. It has lots of action to keep your attention.I would recommend this book. I comute 3hr. a day and this book made the time go by fast.
Loved the story, although very sad. I read the first 2 in this series - this one was even better.
I really enjoyed the suspense and the chase of this novel. I love the strong female characters as well. Patterson truly seems to represent crime drama well.
Very good. Wonder if there will ever be a sequel. Didn't want to get out of the car.
I hesitated for just a brief moment before adding this book to my rental list. Too often series' of this nature start to become boring and predictable, but James Patterson has done a great job once again. Great narrator, too!
I loved it. They are getting better will each new title. This is a great series--especially for the car and a long drive. You'll look for excuses to go for a drive or you'll have to take it in a finish it. If you haven't read the other 2 in the series read them first
As always, I was spellbound by this book. I am an avid fan of James Patterson. Love all his books.
I love James Patterson, especially his Alex Cross Series. I've just started reading this series of his and find they are up to his fine standard of keeping the reader on the edge of his seat. An excellent read...I recommend his books to all who love a good mystery full of suspense and thrills
The book was ok. I enjoyed it, but I couldn't help but wonder why all the main (active) characters were female. I am a woman who has worked in law enforcement for many years, and I don't see or feel the scenery that James Patterson portrayed his female characters in. They seemed a bit macho and kind of uhhhhh....fictional. But, overall the book was ok. Not one of those audios that you hate to shut off to put the next CD in though.
Wonderful book!!!!!!!!!!! I love it and am looking forward to "reading" other books from James Patterson
The best yet. Kept me on the edge of my seat, and a true surprise ending!!
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me interested and guessing at the outcome.
What a great book. Kept wanting to listen - first thing in the morning, in the car, when I was doing laundry. Nice job by the reader. The Women's Murder Club at it again. You may have some tears with this book.
I'm starting to get into J Patterson - his other works are a little quirky, but this is a great book - creepy and keeps your attention.
Great mystery that held my attenion. A bit scary but was a very good book.
This was a good book - good twists and turns. I have not read the books in order or in the series but I still enjoyed it.
While yes, James Patterson is becoming formulaic in his stories, I still do enjoy them. 3rd Degree didn't disappoint, though there were some loose ends to the story. It was still a fun read.
Another white knuckle ride with James Patterson, lots of twists and turns, good listen.
I really enjoy the Lindsay Boxer and the Women's Murder Club series. This one didn't disappoint.
I really did not care for the narration. I liked the book and enjoy the characters but this narrator was difficult to listen to. Be sure to listen to this series in order so that you understand the characters.
James Patterson writes very formulaic books, however this one held my interested a little bit more than his other ones. I have to say that the narrator, I forgot her name, sounds like she has loose dentures. Her voice was a little irritating to say the least.
I think this was the best of the series so far. The story line is quite timely with the threat of terrorism in the world today. The action is fast paced with a few twists that you might not expect. Listen to these titles in order to understand the character development and references. One complaint: I think Patterson keeps changing the name of Claire's husband. Is it Edgar or Edmund?
I can't believe what they did!!!!!! How could you????? What were you thinking????
This is the best Patterson book I've read! I love the Women's Murder Club. I highly recommend this one!
I was pretty disappointed with this book. I didn’t like the narrator, because she gave a different voice for the characters that I was use to from the “2nd chance series.” I didn’t like how Jill confided in Lindsey and then turned around and went to Steve’s job to give him a piece of her mind. I also felt that it was too convenient for Jill to be killed after it comes out that her husband abuses her.
I've read all of the books in this series, and I think this one was my favorite. Some shocking turns of events, and interesting sub plots and unusual characters are tied up in the story.
Typical Patterson; able to keep your attention and keep you guessing.
A good thriller, fun to listen to. Enough twists and turns. Good audio production. Recommended.
Full of suspense with twists and turns. Keeps you at the edge of your seat - a thrill to listen to.
I liked it. I also liked the production. Jill's accent was very phony, but that was the only part I didn't like. I recommend it.
This story kept my interest until it seemed to morph into a Jackie Collins romance novel. Until that point, the story was believable, especially when you consider today's headlines. gk
This is a very timely book; terrorism is on everyone’s mind these days. Many of us lived through the 1970’s and the demonstrations during the war in Vietnam. By referencing the Weathermen and other groups, Patterson made the story very real. I couldn’t stop listening but I also didn’t want the book to end. The romantic part of the story added a nice tough but the twists and turns keep it interesting. Order this book. You’ll LOVE it.
