Unabridged Audiobook
Great story. Kept me listening. Middle section a bit too long and cringe worthy.
I downloaded my first book on a VIP perk. This is now my 3rd book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Her surprising twists hook me in. Loved it and purchased another one of her books.
amazing book loved it. couldn't stop listening.
This book is completely predictable all the way through, and I'm not exactly really good at sussing stuff out. Figuring out the 'Sixth Sense' surprise before the actual reveal was one of the proudest moments of my life. The antagonist is, appropriately, a conniving, nasty little piece of work. Not one single redeeming quality, so nice work on that character. But I didn't find the protagonist all that likable, either. Narration fair - she did better than I would have. Really wouldn't recommend - A LOT of better similarly themed 'be careful who you go to lunch with' works out there.
It’s a good story, thrilling from the beginning. I enjoyed it and it kept me hooked till the end. Good narrator too
This was a frustratingly enjoyable book to listen too. I agree with a previous review where they did not like either protagonist or antagonist. My frustration was with the protagonist in so many ways. She would continue to make bad decision after bad decision. She would do something and I would be like, that would be that last thing any sane person would do. It would be frustrating to listen to at those times. However, like good trash TV, I was hooked and had to finish to see how this mess was going to resolve itself. So in that way I agree with all the other reviews that said it kept them listening... As for the narrator, at times she sounded like she recorded a sentence at time and was stopped and picked up again. It took sometime for me to get used too.
Narrator’s delivery (accents, sloppy drunk impression, snarky tone, etc) and differentiating between characters were well matched with this plot. Condensing monologues were my favorite. Plot is predictable but adds to reader’s anticipation. Barelli is my new favorite author.
It was a good story until the end. It should have included a scene in office in front of all staff.
The suspense was great, but the main character was unsympathetic. It was hard to understand how someone so intelligent would also be so dumb and shallow.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing until the end
Good story but unnecessarily long and at points the main character is so annoying.
stopped listening after several chapters. didn't connect to it
This was a VIP book and I really enjoyed it. Great twists and keeps you at the edge of your seat. There were times it was infuriating, which was the point so kudos to the author for that! Narration was fine, a little too AI sounding in my opinion.
Chose this book after reading “Missing Molly” which was good & I enjoyed. This one was disappointing. Some sections went on too long & none of the characters were likeable, maybe that was the point but it made me not care about the outcome of the story. I almost gave up & it was a chore to finish. There were some surprising twists. The narrator was good particularly with Eve’s whiny voice. I will try another of Natalie Barelli’s books but not immediately.
Had a free little twists in wasnt expecting. It was good.
amazing. loved it
Very good listen. So many twists and turns abd well read ,
The story seemed like it was written for teenagers maybe. Juvenile thinking by the main character. It was hard to finish but I did.
Overall pretty good - a little implausible in parts but overall worth a listen.
I though it started out a little slow and was not sure where it was going. Before long I could not stop listening. I enjoyed all of the twist and turns. Overall, a very good book and well read.
High anxiety listen…
Great book and excellent narration.
the start was okay but then it goes off complet topic it was a waste of my credit. I didn't bother finishing
I decided to download this book because the reviews were so positive. Unfortunately, it massively fell short. I gave up halfway through as it was so obvious where the story was going. The level of writing seemed very amateur. The narrator was good, but the accents she tried were ridiculous and the personalities of the characters were a bit over the top.
I loved everything about this book. It was suspenseful and moved fast. I couldn’t put it down. And the narrator was awesome!!
I hated that he book, the protagonist was unlikable, the plot points unbelievable. But the narration made it almost impossible to listen to. Did the author intend for her tech guru to sound like an insecure high schooler? I did like the rough idea of the story, which combined with the short length, convinced me to finish. (How many times can the “world tilt,” the “ground shift,” the “ floor fall out from beneath” the main character??
This book lacks depth, is predictable and has a protagonist who is not likable.
Usually can’t rate 4 but this was quite entertaining
Interesting twists until the end.
