Book #1 of the Hot Shots series definitely got the off to a fast start. From the introduction of a wide range of characters to the people and families that populate this series, there as a lot to take in. The author managed to create an intricate story woven into the reality and dangers of being a smoke jumper. The sense of honor and dedication of all the characters to the profession and to each other was evident throughout the story. That was both the source of their strength and what limited their potential happiness. Once again, the narrator (Iggy Toma) voiced a wide range of characters with a surprising level of detail. His vocals for Lincoln were particularly interesting and conjured up a mental visual the pain the character was feeling so well. I will definitely be following up to listen to the rest of the series.
