Unabridged Audiobook
Sociologist Abigail Saguy has done it again---written a compelling academic study that is accessible to lay people. As someone who has admired Saguy's work for a long time but who is not a sociology professor, I did not know what to expect from this book. What I learned from it challenged me to reconsider how almost everyone may have a closet they need to come out from if they are to live full and meaningful lives. I found the book informative and interesting because Saguy makes deep connections with all of her interviewees without being judgmental or patronizing. And the narrator is perfect for the book as well. Listening to a chapter at a time--which is my preferred way of listening to books--was a fine way to approach this one, but it would be great for a long car trip or daily commute as well! As a lesbian someone who is interested in the fat acceptance movement and has long been fascinated with Mormonism, there was much for me to hear, here. Thanks for a great book Professor Saguy.
