Summary
My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods . . . or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

I aint gonna lie I started to listen to this book 3 times and couldnt get into it but once I actually sat down and listened, I was blown the f away. it is sexy and passionate and full of love and its really a great book. so if you're struggling to get through the first chapter..i recommend keeping at it..it does get better. Grace has a spark to her and takes no bs which I like in a heroine. she's really a tough cookie. and Jaxson like in most books is dark and mysterious and self loathing but under it all you realize he's just in pain. they are a beautiful couple and I really hope book 2 doesn't disappoint.

This book is a no go. For one, the main character grace is needing but says she not. There so many parts of this book that makes no sense at all. if she has watched all is these damn vampire movies and shows when does she act so spaced out. the Jackson character is so weird. The book author pays people so much money to give good book review so we buy this crap and now I'm over it. The book is slow and repeats thw main character thoughts. I mean why would you write the main character in that way. To be so weak and slow to react to any thing that is going on. please the part when he feeds on her and she did know she need that feom him really. that put girl in a view like we are here for a man needs. over all this book could have been better if the author was willing to write with strength not weakness.

I love the romance in this book

You know those books that you read and then someone asks you if you have read a certain book, then you consider not telling them you’ve read it because you are so embarrassed that you have read it? Yeah, that’s what this book is. The protagonist is supposed to be 17, and she has the vocabulary of a 10 year old. The author has made her incredibly unlikeable to the point that it’s insufferable. She uses the same lines over and over again. And if she can’t seem to describe the main love interest in any other words than “hot af”, insert eye roll. As well as Grace saying “I mean what else could I do”, only a million times. I would consider this amateur at best and will not be continuing this series. The Narrator is worse than the book itself. I get as thought I was listening to a robot voice try to sound human. I just can’t.

I enjoyed this book very much. The writing style in this book wasn’t the best but the story had me very intrigued that I couldn’t put it down. I have continued the series and the story only gets more and more interesting. Some predictable moments and some surprises.

Narrator did the best with what they had. Story line is a mash up of all the best selling books for teens. Nothing felt original and just makes the book one big cringe.

I guess if I was 13 years old it would be ok . It is just another monster falls in love with sorrowful teen book. Maybe it gets better but after 1 hour it was enough.

Just not good. Like think of when twilight was a book and you loved it. And then you watched the horrible acting and it sucked. That’s this book. Using the phrase “AF” because you cannot find a better way to describe is just lazy writing. There are thoughts and sentences repeated in the same thought process or dialogue multiple times. It’s just not good. I read some negative and then some positive and tried to be into it and it’s awful. So glad I didn’t pay for the book but got it with a vip credit or I’d be so mad.

It was good for a YA book. It reminded me of Twilight. Also the narrator read too slow for me. I had to listen to her on 1.5 speed.

I really enjoyed this book and I am listening to the next book in the series!

I wanted to like this book. While listening the passing seemed too slow for the plot and too fast for the romance. The entire book is based on about 2 weeks of the main character at her new school. Definitely a no go for me, I wanted to get into the rest of the books, but no thank you, one was enough.

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing I would have enjoyed more is the narrators to switch Read through the whole book. Otherwise very good.

Definitely young adult fiction. Beware.

I finished it because I hate DNFing books, but I won't be reading the rest of the series. Classic loner Vamp MMC who only has eyes for the seemingly normal FMC who pretends there is nothing special about her. A lesser Twilight.

I just could not get past the inner dialogue of the main character….. nor the references to the other pop culture references. The narrator was great.

Loved the story and the narrator

Boring and unrealistic even for its genre. Dragons? Come on. I read and enjoyed Twilight, so it wasn’t the vampire aspect.

Just felt like the MC was useless…

The author filled 80% of this book having the protagonist repeat herself repeatedly
