Summary
The Dresden Files have taken the genre of paranormal mystery to a new level of action, excitement, and hard-hitting magical muscle. Now, in Death Masks, Jim Butcher’s smart-guy private eye may have taken on more than he ever wanted to handle.

Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Such as:

A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards.

Professional hit men using Harry for target practice.

The missing Shroud of Turin—and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss.

A handless and headless corpse the Chicago police need identified.

Not to mention the return of Harry’s ex-girlfriend Susan, who’s still struggling with her semi-vampiric nature. And who seems to have a new man in her life. Some days, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. No matter how much you’re charging.

Great book, wonderful narrator, I'm hooked. Though it is frustrating when I realized you hadn't provided book 1 to 4 and started the series at book 5. Saying this I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and enjoyed the narrator who was made to read these books.

The story is amazing, as always from Jim Butcher. A great combination of action, intrigue, and humor. I found it irritating to listen to this narrator and his tendency to EMPHASIZE every few WORDS, even though it doesn't make SENSE, from a CONVERSATIONAL standpoint, or even HOW one would READ inside their own HEAD. At times this distracted me from what was being read because it's like having certain words all but shouted at me, making me wonder why those particular words were so important.

This is such a great development in the series. It sets up the next 3 books to be home runs!

One of my absolute favorite series. The Dresden Files are why I decided to subscribe to this service, but sadly not all of them are here. Please get the rest! Thank you:)

Why have I never read Harry Dresden before. I love this book, exciting and brilliant characters. You will need to read more. Well worth a listen if you like supernatural thrillers.
