Couldn’t follow the story most of the time and thought, in some places, the narrator sounded like Winnie the Pooh.

Profile Avatar Hans H. Jan 2022

Very well narrated! HP Lovecraft is often hard to read, let alone say out loud. Loved the book

It’s a good listen, but it’s definitely a different style for me. Not bad at all

I enjoyed the narrator but didn't care for the storyline. I enjoyed the narrator but didn't enjoy the storyline.

First time listening to Lovecraft. Loved it. And the narrator did a brilliant job of voicing the characters

Profile Avatar Anonymous Feb 2025

the narration was fantastic and it was a good read

Interesting story, I had the physical copy as well as listening to it, the audio version is a better way to consume in my opinion. Not a bad background story, sometimes hard to stay focused in the story though.

My first Lovecraft. Entertaining short story, well narrated.

I found it interesting, but I'm not a big fan of Lovecraft and his writing. It's to be on my comprehension and interest, but I keep hearing how wonderful he is and I keep hoping to find a book that interests me but he is a little too weird for my taste.

Profile Avatar Keith H. Mar 2024

Quite enjoyable! My only criticism is that the narrator pronounces Dunwich incorrectly. It's pronounced "Dull-itch".

legendary story telling

The story was very good, and the narrator was excellent. I loved the change in his voice for different characters, it made the story more interesting.

Profile Avatar Pedro A. Jan 2023

Great narration and amazing story line.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2022

Great story and narrator

Profile Avatar Max J. Oct 2022

Great narration of some classic Lovecraft!

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2022

Pretty good Lovecraft novelette, although the dark atmosphere of inbreeding and fear becomes silly once the monster are actually revealed. The narrator is perfect for the story, gets the decadent and decaying American 1920s rural atmosphere just right.

Profile Avatar Eric C. Apr 2022

Good narrator but the story was only OK. Alright for something short to listen to.

Profile Avatar Raye-Raye Oct 2020

A little dry but ya just can’t beat some good ol’ Lovecraft

Profile Avatar Kcofieldrrt Oct 2020

Great listening

Profile Avatar Angelica V. Jun 2020

Good thing it was a short book.

Profile Avatar Rebecca C. May 2020

The story was hard to follow for me. It seemed a bit all over

This is my fourth of Lovecraft’s stories, and I love the third person perspective. The narrator was fine, though sometimes his character voices ran together and sounded the same. Other than that though it was great! Would definitely recommend for a Lovecraft fan.

Profile Avatar Mary S. Feb 2020

The narration kept breaking up on this book for the first several chapters. The book itself was really good and I enjoyed it but the quality of the narration took a lot of the enjoyment out of it.

Profile Avatar Robert B. Sep 2019

One of my favorite Lovecraft stories, capturing the essence of his horror genre. Narrator did ok, clear and understandable, tried to distinguish character voices, didn’t go over the top on his delivery.

Profile Avatar Chukwunonso U. May 2019

Beautiful

Profile Avatar Deanna N. Mar 2019

This was great! The narrator was spectacular and even did spooky sound effects. I think anyone could get a kick out of this old-fashion sci-fi!

Profile Avatar Craig S. Dec 2018

WOW! Lovecraft at his best!

Profile Avatar Craig T Jan 2018

the story was ok but I found it hard to listen to the narration

Profile Avatar Matt D Nov 2017

Narrator did a good job. Classic Lovecraft story.

Profile Avatar Shirley M Oct 2017

Very scary. It is horrible. Think before hearing it!

Profile Avatar lydia d Sep 2017

thoroughly enjoyed it (listening in the dark, made it that much better) wish it had been longer listening..

Profile Avatar Matthías Leó G Sep 2017

The story is simply awesome and is well narrated too.

Profile Avatar John R Aug 2017

Not my favorite Lovecraft, but a good addition to his universe. Very quick listen, good for an in between book, while waiting for the next download credit.

Profile Avatar Gaynor C Aug 2017

As an old Science Fiction it's relative to the time written. Always interesting to listen to early sci fi minds.
