Summary
A snarky baker, a sexy fae lord, and the curse that tangles their fates forever.

When my bestie and I opened a fabulous bakery, I planned to live a long life shoving pumpkin muffins into my face hole and working them off during my self-defense class. But when a castle full of ridiculously gorgeous immortals showed up on the ley line running through my small town outside Nashville, my life changed.

A lot. Like a lot, a lot.

Because of an ancient curse, the fae and their vampire frenemy can't leave their castle without turning to ash, and they only have one month before they're all toast. When the most powerful fae lord uses his seductive power to lure me close, to psychically feed on my aura, he successfully steps out of the castle for the first time.

Now the fae want all of my supposedly special blood to break the curse and find their freedom. Until I can somehow shove the immortals back into whatever magical hole they crawled out of, my life is forfeit.

I have a new plan, but it doesn't account for the insane feelings I'm starting to have for the leader of the group . . .

Narrator did an excellent job, had no trouble following along to who was talking in dialogues. Apart from the overly use of “the monsters factor” (‘they’re monsters’ , ‘after all, they’re monsters’ etc.) I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The conviction of believing they’re monsters is well placed, don’t get me wrong. Her introduction to these monsters can only give her that conviction. But throughout the story, she has more glimpses and the good vs. evil side should be blurred beyond believe by then so the still occurring ‘they’re monsters and should be left to die’ type lines become rather shortsighted the further the story develops. Not that it is said so much but often enough that, at a certain point, it is not only annoying and disappointing but feels uncharacteristic as she is getting these glimpses that should have her realizing that in fact, monsters aren’t species-oriented but more like rotten character in each species oriented. So therefore it becomes shortsighted. Apart from that I had a few questions about a few practical aspects but can’t divulge because those are spoilers, minor ones but still. But even with these minor problems I really loved the storyline and fully intend to continue this series because the way it ends, yes, I definitely want to know how that all plays out! Not that it ends in what we would classify as a cliffhanger per se, I would classify this ending as a promise for book 2 with enough closure to stop if you so desire but enough hints to hook you for a next installment. Love these in between endings. Shows to me that the author is certain enough of his/her work to not feel the need to resort to a rather “now you have no choice but to continue” kind of ending. I know that is often not the goal with authors that use heavy cliffhangers but often enough it feels like it is so I prefer this kind of ending. I for one, am looking forward to book 2!

I wasn’t a fan at first, I felt like it was run of the mill plotting that I’d seen before. Nevertheless I powered through and I am so happy I did! It gets better over time and by the ending I was enraptured! The ending has left me wanting so much more!

Enjoyed this book when I read it, and loved it even more listening to it. The story kept me captive from start to finish. Love the chemistry and tension with the main characters. Can’t wait to listen to the second book!!

Coren finds herself the only one seeing a castle and gets herself involved in a curse with three fae brothers and a vampire. Looking forward to more of this series.
