Summary
Wildly original, funny and moving, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August is an extraordinary story of a life lived again and again from World Fantasy Award-winning author Claire North.

Harry August is on his deathbed. Again.

No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes.

Until now.

As Harry nears the end of his eleventh life, a little girl appears at his bedside. 'I nearly missed you, Doctor August,' she says. 'I need to send a message.'

This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow.

this series really kept me on my toes. had to pay attention to keep track of the timeliness but that is what made it all the more interesting.

Alex Cross meets Groundhog Day - a man lives his life over and over and remembers and learns from each previous life. What a thought-provoking premise for a story. The story bounces between timelines (or lives) which can be confusing at times. The story moves at a decent pace and toward the end, I couldn’t put it down. There were only two spots that I felt the story dragged. The first was a necessary explanation of how being immortal works and what it means for Harry and others like him. The second was Vincent’s explanation of technology. Otherwise, good story with lots of action in the second half of the book. I liked this book and recommend it to book clubs because you will want to discuss it afterwards.

Part thriller and part psychological exploration, this book kept me engaged and curious from start to finish. The concept is fantastic. As a "linear" (i.e. someone with only a single life to live), it is fun to imagine a world where you can return to address your mistakes, learn more than you can imagine and live so many different lives. The relationships are well-drawn. I definitely recommend it!

Very enjoyable book. The narrating was excellent! I enjoyed the conflicting emotional relationship of Harry and Vincent; best friends and nemeses beautifully woven. The time traveling was fun and the many alterations of his lives kept it intriguing.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in the theory of time travel. I love the idea of having numerous chances to undo your mistakes and grow from them. We watch Harry come into the world in the worst way and on his last journey save the planet.
