Summary
A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad's invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind-until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

her voice sounds robotic and she talks from her nose...

It is an okay plot, the main character can get annoying. The narrator's accents...just not enough to keep me listening

I couldn't really listen, the narrator was not a good fit for me.

First of all: I really want to value the work of writers and I hate to write a bad review - but I also believe that criticism is a gift..sooooo.... I'm really, really not picky when it comes to my supernatural-fantasy-reading addiction. Really not. But this book? Turned it off after an hour of trying hard to get into it. We've seen, heard and read the whole "remotely confident teen is drawn to the supernatural equivalent of the highschool jock a**hole"-plot and we're all cringing and wanna scream: "Trust your gut feeling! Run!!" at the teenage girl. Spoiler: She doesn't and it's like feminism and consent never happened. I really wanted to appreciate this book as the VIP gift that it was - but now I'm just grateful I didn't pay for this. (the narrator gives her best, but the dragging of the word ends plus the annoying story made it hard to listen to)

Would recommend this read. However, it took me some time to adjust to the reader--draws out the last word of every sentence esp with Ally. She does a nice job with the New Orleans accent. The story kept me interested.

I loved this book. Great story line. And I loved how the narrator used different voices and accents for all the characters so you didn't get lost on who was speaking. Can't wait to listen to the next book in this series!!!
