Fortune of War is one of my favorites in the canon (along w/ Post Captain, HMS Surprise, Desolation Island and The Thirteen Gun Salute, although every one of the books are fantastic. In this story the War of 1812 has broken out and the main adversary is the young United States Navy, and (spoiler alert) Stephen and Diana are finally reunited.

This is one of the best historical fiction series ever written. The relationship between Captain Jack Aubrey and his friend and ship’s surgeon, Stephen Maturin, is deep and familiar… you want to know these men and their friends (and enemies) more. Worth reading from the beginning Master and Commander.

All of Patrick O'Brien's books provide an addictive read. Patrick Tull is the perfect voice to read these stories. Thank you for making them available.
