Unabridged Audiobook
A group of characters introduced like Russian dolls, with storIt’s inside another stories. Also an uplifting portrayal of intersectional feminism and the human condition and need for family and connection. Every character portrayed could be its own book. Loved the narrators cadence
what I at first thought was incoherency is actually incredible, vivid obscurity. It's a story made up of smaller stories, yet it tells you something very clearly and very directly. it talks about difficult problems without a hint of pessimism. the end left me feeling really hopeful and I cannot recommend it enough.
It can be hard to follow the characters. I found a few “maps” online that made it much easier to follow the connections. I enjoyed each persons story and how they linked together. The narration was very enjoyable.
I loved how every story was connected in some way. This book address majority of the problems of girls and becoming a woman. Even danced around the trans woman. Marriage, kids, dreams deferred, love, infatuation, lust, stupid decisions, entrepreneur, family issues, and so much more. It wasn't what I expected but I'm glad I read it anyway. Let me go check out some more books by Bernardine Evaristo. #Book44of2020 #bookworm #whatsnext
