HOW FAR DOES THE APPLE REALLY FALL FROM THE TREE?

'A deliberate pace and a skillfully woven plot conspire to create a visceral read that's at once a gripping psychological thriller and a devastating exploration of the damage wrought by childhood trauma.' — Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

Good Me Bad Me is a dark, compelling, voice-driven psychological suspense audiobook by debut author Ali Land: 'Could not be more unputdownable if it was slathered with superglue.' —Sunday Express

Milly’s mother is a serial killer. Though Milly loves her mother, the only way to make her stop is to turn her in to the police. Milly is given a fresh start: a new identity, a home with an affluent foster family, and a spot at an exclusive private school.

But Milly has secrets, and life at her new home becomes complicated. As her mother’s trial looms, with Milly as the star witness, Milly starts to wonder how much of her is nature, how much of her is nurture, and whether she is doomed to turn out like her mother after all.

When tensions rise and Milly feels trapped by her shiny new life, she has to decide: Will she be good? Or is she bad? She is, after all, her mother's daughter.

I had goose bumps during many of the hours while listening to this! The narrator was incredible.

I loved the way Millie was written. I thought the end was a little dry and predictable, but I could have lived inside Millie’s head forever. I didn’t really feel like it was a “thriller,,” but it was a great dark delve. What I liked the best seems to be the thing most people didn’t, but I really appreciated how Millie would start thinking in 1-2 word sentences when she was triggered, her emotional state stripped down to the corr. The narration was the best I have ever heard in an audiobook. One of the reasons I don’t listen to many audiobook is because I hate the vocal fry There was no vocal fry with this narrator and I truly felt as though 6 different people were reading to me.

I liked it. It wasn’t great but it was good. The ending was a bit predictable. I still recommend it.

**WARNING** This book may cause triggers for anyone who has been abused as a child. If you have PTSD from childhood abuse or suffer from flashbacks this book could intensify them. This book was absolutely the best, I couldn't put it down! Ali Land is amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat! although this book caused an internal struggle with me and my past I couldn't stop listening.
