William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all. With the Padavanos, William experiences a newfound contentment; every moment in their house is filled with loving chaos.

But then darkness from William’s past surfaces, jeopardizing not only Julia’s carefully orchestrated plans for their future, but the sisters’ unshakeable devotion to one another. The result is a catastrophic family rift that changes their lives for generations. Will the loyalty that once rooted them be strong enough to draw them back together when it matters most?

An exquisite homage to Louisa May Alcott’s timeless classic, Little Women, Hello Beautiful is a profoundly moving portrait of what is possible when we choose to love someone not in spite of who they are, but because of it.

If you like long, depressing books filled with terrible, selfish characters with no redeeming qualities, this is the prefect story for you!

It a very depressive story the first 60 % of the story very plain , explaining things and until the last part gets interesting. Very gloomy

After a long stretch of starting, but never finishing a book, this was one I was able to finish within a week, and I loved it. A great story that focuses on character development, each with a sense of relatable vulnerability, making it an enjoyable read. I liked that each chapter was told from a different characters point of view (still in 3rd person) on a chronological timeline. Each chapter slightly overlapped or recapped with the previous chapters events, told by a different character. The ability to float around from perspective to perspective, all with one cohesive storyline, made this a book I would definitely recommend.

If you enjoy family sagas with rich character development and a touch of mystery, "Hello Beautiful" is a worthwhile read. It's a story about enduring love, the burdens we carry, and, ultimately, the healing power of truth. The pacing a bit slow in the middle - 4.5 stars

Why is it necessary to have a celebrity actor read vs a professional? I’m not sure if I was bored to tears because of the story or the read. A disappointment especially considering how hyped up it has been. The outcome was predictable, none of the characters were overly compelling, and I find it interesting how shallow the character development was given the book length.

I loved this story and the narrator. The author really makes you care about each character and I loved the fact so many characters were deeply developed. This was one of my favourite books of the past 10 years.

Great books. Maura had an easy voice to listen to.

For the first hour listening I was waiting for the narrator to elevate her voice. It almost sounded like it was always an introduction of a movie. The story itself was okay; not great, but not bad. It was hard keeping the 2 similar sounding sisters' names straight. And as I am a former pro athlete, and now a parent of athletes, if you are a woman and 6' -plus in height, please at least TRY sports in middle and high school.

This book has taken a hold of my heart. It will be a long time before I forget about William, Sylvie or Alice. I won’t forget Julia either but for negative reasons. Thanks Ann Napolitano for such a wonderful novel.

I kept listening, but wanting it over with almost the whole time. . People reading must have had a better experience. So many loved it so I kept going. Moderator added to the boredom.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The author sure has a very creative mind to come up with these situations that are highly unlikely, but definitely possible. Character development was good. You really knew the people and you were highly invested in the family and I enjoyed the experience.

Beautiful storytelling and complex and rich characters. Thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!

Wonderful book. Loved the bonds between the sisters. When I dislike narration, I always assume the author had some directorial authority and likes the narration. But I found Maura Tierney extremely flat. (I feel the same about her acting.) If the story had been any less exceptional, I wouldn’t have made it to the end.
