I read this book when I was in middle school and loved it then. I'm in college now and was excited to hear the story for the second time. I was not disappointed. This book is still just as fantastic as I remembered! I highly recommend it for anyone who has ever wanted to disappear into a book! The characters are all unique and memorable as well as the story itself!

This was a good book, but was not really what the kids and I were expecting, and it got frustrating that the main characters kept getting caught. I guess we wanted a bit more "super hero" and less "every man". :)

A very imaginative story. I have always wished that I could jump into a story or have my favorite people in a book come to life. The story is a little slow at times, and gets really weird in a few places. I have heard that the next book is the best in the series, but haven't started it yet. I would say that it is worth listening to or reading, but be prepared for a strange tale.

A wonderful book!! And the story is even better with the 2nd book, Inkspell! Can't wait for Inkdeath (said to be released sometime in 2008!)

This is a fine, well read book for young adults, but as adult entertainment, it falls a bit short. The general idea of the book is great, but the progression of plot becomes clear about half way through and it is a long labored trip getting there. If you enjoy a story slowly told with great detail then you will like this. If you prefer fast paced action, this is probably not your best choice.

Who would have thought a young adult title would be this riveting. It truly was spellbinding and one of my favorite reads. I am anxious to hear the sequal.

I cannot understand the previous ratings for this book. It is at least three discs to long and those discs are the first three. The story takes forever to start; the writer never seems know when to get to the plot. Finally, as a person that spends a majority of their working day with children of all ages, I have to wonder why the author thinks children are so stupid! The plot repeats itself over and over with the characters never seeing the danger in, dark scary men with scars on their faces, or returning to the home where they were kidnapped from! The bad men will never think to look for us at home! In other words this story is for people that travel with “your touching me, stop looking at me,” siblings. By the time disc two begins all the driver will hear is the sweet sound of snoring. Or better yet, use the story to keep them quiet, “if you don’t behave I will put Inkheart in this CD player. I’m not kidding!” Either way silence shall be brought forth from the book!

Inkheart is a truly magical story. It was recommended to me by my 12 year old niece as her very favorite book. This story is for all true book lovers. It is full of books whose pages whisper to Meggie, beckoning her to join their worlds. In the story, a good reader can taste the words, making the stories and characters come alive. It is full of adventure and some truly remarkable villains! Lynn Redgrave's voice is wonderful. At the end of the recording there is a sneak peak into the sequel, Inkspell. I was delighted to hear it read by Brendon Frasier, who also read Cornelia Funke's Dragon Rider. Frasier's narration is so magical it literally brought tears to my eyes--he truly IS Silvertongue! His voice makes this world vanish as you enter another world. I can't wait to listen on!

Inkheart combines reality with fantasy in a new way. It is an intriguing story that I definitely recommend. However, its sequel, Inkspell, is better written and better read. Lynn Redgrave reads well, but compared to Brendan Fraser's passionate, imaginative reading of Inkspell, she sounds dull. Listen to and enjoy this, keeping in mind that the best is yet to come in its sequel!

I think that this is one of the best books I have read so far. Inkheart is totally different from any other books I have read. This story is about people who love to read books as many of us do, but the only thing is that the characters in this book come to life. Inkheart is a great mystery, suspense, and fantasy adventure all wrapped into one! I really enjoyed this book and I hope you enjoy it too.

A little on the long side, but entertaining just as well.

Prior to Inkspell there is Inkheart. Riveting, delightful. Don't miss the opportunity to visit a world where readers are life givers, the written word can become real and the characters you once only wished could come to visit you actually do -- but therein lies the danger too, there are also the characters you never wish to run into down some dark alleyway. I found the characters to be engaging however the storyline was a bit drawn out. It didn't move along well and I found my attention wandering at some points. Overall, it is a good plot with a firm foundation to build on. The production is well defined and I had no trouble differentiating between characters. The characters were well described so much so that I could actually picture the scars on Dustfinger's face.

Inkheart - aka Tintenherz, is originally a German book, which I had read in the original language. I absolutely loved the story. But I was hesitant to listen to it in English so often stories lose when they are translated. This one did not. The reader was great and the translation was really excellent. It is a long book, but it keeps you on the edege all the way through, I could not turn of my CD player, althought this was the second time around for me to take in this story.
