Unabridged Audiobook
As others have said, the narrator is astoundingly good. I've never heard a book narrated so well, so distinctly for each voice, so pitch perfect for every scene. Of course it's a great story, King being an evil-genius and all, but the narration made this books so good it's almost painful to end.
an amazing book read by an amazing narrator. I highly recommend this book.
This was my first fiction audio book, and just finished. It was amazing. The narrator was great and really knew how to portray the difference characters. the story is so detailed. Wow
I was really bummed out when I finished it. Everything was incredible. I seriously did not want it to end.
Loved it. Great book and narrative was amazing. All the different voices and amazing descriptions.
This is only my second audio book ever. I am usually partial to holding the book in my hands, and reading the pages. This is masterpiece come to life. I predict that, Stephen King will come to be known as the greatest storyteller of our century. Period. Steven Weber is exactly the perfect narrator for this piece. What a web of mental pictures and sensory imaginings. Brilliant. Like one reviewer quipped: "enough said".
Fabulous book ans ateven webber did an ouatanding job narrating it. Fantastic!!!
I wanted to get through the book before I'd watch the movie remake, and I have to say my expectations are pretty high now!I've seen the Tim Curry version, and it was of course pretty good, but I feel like they left out a lot from the book or the acting was dry at parts. The narrator made this book come to life even more than it would with just me reading it, great job and definitely a page turner! <3
Other than a seriously depraved orgy... an absolute masterpiece.
This was a great listen. The narrator is very engaging. At times he takes on a persona that reminds me of New Yorker telling it to you straight - very directly, and other times he's describing a scene like he is in the moment. The story itself is iconic. If you haven't read the book or listened to it, you should. This is a long book but work it. Some of the build-up seems excessive but it fills out the character's personality. Understanding their background helps set the mood later in the story.
The narrator was unbelievably good, the way he did all the character voices, especially Bill.
This was my first King book to read. The title has been on my radar since the movie scared me as a child. Without a doubt the best character development of any book I have read.
An excellent read with so much more to offer than any film version has managed to reflect. There is so much in this story... If your only ideas about "It" come from having watched any of the films you've done yourself a disservice.
It's Steven King man, read him with respect!!!!
The narrator is the best. I like it. I like It. Listening is better then just reading
definitely different from the movie.
By far the most existentially terrifying analogy for childhood trauma I've ever laid eyes on
good book, good listen
It was okay until the pre teen gang bang. If you like that your a pervert pedo clearly Steven King is. wonder how many times he flew to Epstein's island?
Absolutely love this book
Highly memorable for many reasons: excellent writing, surprisingly deep lore, great characters and a pace that, while long, moves steadily. Excellent narrator as well.
book was amazing, but slightly confusing if not giving full attention to it.
As with most of his novels, the overarching theme here is that the scariest monsters are usually human. With a novel of this length, it can be easy for something to feel like it’s running too long or just bloviated in general. This is not the case at all. The town of Derry is an immersive and rich space, made all that much more accessible and engaging by the narration of Stephen Weber. This is probably the most well-acted audiobook I’ve ever listened to, and will be the standard by which I hold all others that I listen to in the future.
Book- amazing the narrator Steven Weber- thee best narrator of all time!!
GOAT of all time
As usual great author
I am not a big Stephen King fan, however I totally enjoyed listening to this book because the narrator was absolutely brilliant !
excellent.
I didn't love it. It was long and rambling and some things seemed really unnecessary. Steven Webber did a good job though.
This audio book is better than the book or any movie of It. That narrator is beyond amazing. I wish he could read me every book every day for the rest of my life. ❤️
One of his overall best novels and stories ever in my opinion! I also have to place this one in my Top 5 for sure for "most gripping and hard to put down or stop" stories I've ever read!- or tried to stop reading!! If I had to, my only negative comment or complaint would be that despite being one of my top favorite novels ever!...at times the descriptive content does tend to drag on and seem somewhat overexcessive, and unnecessary, making you want to skip ahead to the action every so often perhaps, but never enough to make your mind wander and lose attention long enough to want to quit and save for another day! :)
INCREDIBLE! Narrators Pennywise voice is the best. If you are a carbon based life form, you must listen and do so in a dark room whilst naked.
awesome read!
Stephen King never gets old. This book is no exception. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. And the narrator was exceptional. He had all the characters down with voices and personalities alike. If you’re a Stephen King fan you definitely want to read this one.
I loved this audio book.
The narrator is as good as everyone has said. He is as good as Frank Muller who did the first 3 Dark Tower books. I really enjoy Kings storytelling so I enjoyed the book.
Long book but worth the read. Audio book was excellent and helped with the gold character development.
Great book I loved the movies and it was better to hear on audio.
Loving this book so far, its hard to find time to listen to books so I usually do it as I clean. The narration is perfect, keeps me glued to my AirPods and tis app.
Great book If you are my age you could really identify this this time period.
not impressed with the frightening of children
I have listened to this at least 20 times or more. Great book
Love the book & Weber's narration
I loved the movies now I’m reading the big book
Great book..not such great narration. This guy really hams it up. Annoying.
I've read it before but it's so good I can't help but read it again.
never read the book or watched the movies before this and it was quite a trip! still so confused on the ending but King keeps it raw
great book leaves the reader on edge
Awesome!! Great narrator and great book!
I’ll start this review with a warning: this book is very disturbing and it’s violent/sexual content is not for everyone. It is also extremely long, around 1300 pages. That being said, it is a true piece of art. Interweaving two different decades and well over 10 different storylines, it comes together beautifully as one of King’s most impressive books. It can be a little dull in some parts but I promise it is 100% worth the listen/read. It is in my top three favorite King books and it will remain there as it is just so amazing and well put together that it shines in a way other novels can’t even imagine. 10/10!!!
I’ve enjoyed listening to this book off and on for 3 months now. It’s like I see IT from the movie all over social media, in adds, randomly all the time now.. I highly recommend purchasing this amazing book.
excellent narration!
It’s IT, need I say more?
Massive Stephen King fan, and whenever I'm stumped on what to listen to, I always seem to come back around to this audiobook.
One of the best stories ever! Narrator was awesome really was able to bring out the story.
Great book, I couldn’t stop listening to it!
Steven Weber was a great narrator. The book was awesome.
This is one of the best of Stephen King, I liked his previous narration I think was done in 2010. This recent one is just meh compared to the first narration, a bit too over the top if you ask me (it feels like comparing Heath Ledger's Joker to Jared Leto's Joker).
Amazing! I’m sad it’s over!
This was one of the most intimidating books I have ever “taken on.” But honestly listening to it was worth it. It is horrifying, sad, tender and infuriating at times. It is so long that it can get confusing but I’d suggested giving it a listen.
This book is phenomenal in it's writing. The narrator does a wonderful job of making pennywise sound creepy although when he is reading Bill's lines his stutter sounds like something between nausea and constipation
Best piece of horror fiction ever!! I LOVE THE LOSER'S CLUB!!! You just feel like you are there with them thanks to the King's amazing ability to build worlds, and write great characters.
Great read. So much detail and so engrossing. There is a reason it is such a classic. Narrator does an amazing job
the story repeats itself rather than going forward. Truly annoying.
Amazing book. Can be confusing at times with how it goes back and forth in time for a non native english speaker. Great narrator.
Really great story, and the narrator really does a great job differentiating voices for different people and emotions. Top notch voice acting imo
My favorite Stephen King book!!
Big fan of this book. May be my favorite Stephen King so far! Suspense from beginning to end. There is one scene toward the end that I’m not a fan of, but other than that, great book. Now the narrator did a FANTASTIC job! Great at giving each character their own voice and bringing extra life into the story. All around very impressed! Will definitely listen again!
Great book, but you sometimes have to wonder what is going through Stephen Kings head, then quickly be thankful you don't know. Steven Webers reading was brilliant, and kept me drawn in and cinnected with the characters.
Another great, disturbing story from Stephen King. It isn't for those who are squeamish. The narrator is incredibly passionate, giving life to the story.
l love this book so much you should really listen to it,best reader every!!
The book is truly captivating as it is one of the most disturbing coming of age dramas ever written. The detail is immense and, though it is over 1000 pages, you breeze through it. The narrator takes time to get used to but he provides a nice touch to the books narrative by changing his voice, tone and intensity based on the character and situation. It can come off a bit corny at times but it helps with keeping up with who is talking and what exactly is happening as the book jumps around time periods.
One of my favorite books read by one of the most enjoyable narrators I have had the pleasure of listening to.
This is my forever going to be my favourite book. The storyline is just amazing, and I love how relatable the characters are. Definitely Stephan Kings best book by far. And this is a very enjoyable narrator.
Narration was terrific! Book was well written. However, 11 year olds experiencing sex for the first time? 1 girl, 6 boys, I must say, that part I could have done without as it was quite disturbing.
Great read as I’m sure most already know. Some discomforting situations to find young children in but that seems to be the theme of the book. Narrator was amazing. Easily one of my favorites up there with Michael Kramer and Kate Reading.
I read this book when I was in 8th grade. It was a little hard to follow until I learned to recognize when he would go from past to present. awesome book.
book was very boring!!!!!!!!!!!! could have been about one quarter as long to be an OK book.
I did not like this book at all. It flips around and is all over the place. The narrator has some extremely annoying voice for some of the characters. There is a lot of language which I could care less about but it went on at one point so long that I was wondering why I was wasting my time with this book. Wish I didn’t waste money on this book.
Absolutely loved it! Was sad to hear it end.
Love the narration engaging Stephen king writing on point as usual I’m a big fan
Truly terrifying and entertaining. The book and it's characters became people I genuinely cared for. I didn't want the story to end. I'll go through a few more books and probably come back to this one. The narrator is truly amazing. With so many characters in this story, including Ritchie who does multiple voices within the story, this narrator really nails it.
Narrator was fantastic.
Great book... Best Narrator I’ve heard so far.
Loved this book! Did take a while to finish, but once I? did I? felt as I? have accomplished one of many trophies in the literature world to say that I? read and finished It! Loved the story of It and how it varies on the readers visualization of what pennywise looks like, and in my opinion that is what the story more scary, because everyone has their own idea of what the clown looks like!
Character development was off the charts. Incredible book.
incredible narrator. thrilling book. what more do you need?
This narrator was fantastic. He had dozens of voices to do. All of the characters were believable and really brought to life.
The best damn thing I've ever listened to, enough said.
Such a great book. Didn’t get bored with it at all. Excited to watch the new movie now
The writing of the scariest of scenes is so lovely and poetic that I found myself focusing on the language rather than the actually horror of the situation- not to say that that's a bad thing!
A near perfect story! The loss of innocence incurred by the Losers Club is downright heartbreaking. While King weaves a story that is truly frightening (both Pennywise and the people of Derry), one cannot help but get a feeling of hopefulness from these seemingly powerless castoffs. I for one believe this is the work that truly surplanted King onto a different level of artistry for his craftsmanship on this fine novel. Brilliant narration only adds to this chilling story.
Awesome book, which is no surprise, coming from King. Narrator was fantastic! He really told the story, rather than simply reading it, which helps immerse the listener in the story.
This Novel is everyone's nightmare painted with words. King really went above and beyond with this terrifying piece of art. I read this book in less than a month because I became so attached to it! This novel was definitely worth the read.
Love the narrator,he seems to be enjoying this story as much as I am.
The story is everything I expect from Stephen King. The way it was read was just right!!!!
Riveting! The narrator is making this story come alive.
The book: wonderful... a Stephen King classic. However, Steven Weber's narration was perfection and what all narrators should aspire to be.
This was a great way to enjoy this book again! Very excited to see the movie!
this is one of my favorite Steven King novels and the narrator is great!
Amazingly read. Really got to feel the emotions and fear. Loved it
Stephen Kings master pice that is well told and is one of the best
Best book ever, and the narrator is really good at making you feel the story as he reads.
What a book. This was a great listen. The narrator really put his all into it. The voices and the different tones he uses were the best, consistent and not too much. Steven Weber really added to the experience of this book. The book is a doozy, it took me 4 months to finish. I had to take breaks. Stephen King is a great writer I like how he put just as much story and development into Derry as he did with one of the main characters. There's a certain part towards the end that I thought was just a tad too much. The book could be a little shorter, but I still liked it.
One of the most eloquent writers prevailing a masterpiece to the world. King makes his imaginary world come alive within you. A great read/listen for anyone who can donate enough time to enjoy it.
Absolutely love this book. Scary as hell and has many layers of characters. Even at the age of 35 it is freaky. I too had attempted this book when I was younger but my imagination got the best of me. Narration made the story even more enjoyable.
The Narration on this one was really, really good. The story was so dark and so much more than the original movie was.
King is an exceptionally talented writer. In my opinion this is more of a losing of childhood story, than a coming of age story. What's more, they lost it twice. King, coming himself from a dismal, poor small town, does an excellent job bringing to life, from a child's perspective, this bleak yet at times adventurous existence that is growing up poor in a rural town. However King seems to view this fromessage the depressing side of losing all the magic, vitality, and seemingly eternal hopefulness of childhood. I find that the beginning and middle are full of passion and build, but the end fades quickly without much fuss. The narrator even implores it's young readers to go to the light and love the light of childhood and childhood beliefs as everything else is darkness and fades. If it weren't for the cocaine use, I'd say this was King's near-forty mid life crises and final homage and memorial to his lost childhood and the freedom and vitality he felt there. It is more of a story of psychological struggle that in the end fades and finally accepts the overtaking of aging and lost things/forgetfulness than an outright monster slaying adventure. Really enjoyed the read. Depressing worldview/outlook in its ending.
Disturbing. Frightening. Horrifying. Terrifying. I first attempted to read this novel back in the '80's when I was eleven years old. I had begged my mom to buy me the paperback addition at the supermarket, and she finally agreed to if I promised to read the book all the way through. I gave her my word, but after maybe 100 pages in, but I was scarred for life. I got far enough in to be introduced to Pennywise, and the idea of a clown coming through the drain to get me consumed my nightmares. It terrified me so badly that I would clog the drain with a washcloth during showers, which ultimately flooded my parents bathroom, with the water overflow rotting out the linoleum floor. For the longest time, my dad could not figure out what the problem was. He thought it was a leak when really it was Pennywise. I suppose Stephen King may still owe my dad the money it cost to replace the bathroom floor. At any rate, I eventually did finish the book during my high school years, and came to realize that it was one of his best novels. Listening to it on tape some 25 years later was an amazing experience. Over the years I came to remember that inferior TV movie more than I had the novel, so a lot of the details were new to me once again. I would recommend listening to this novel to anybody who has time to kill and enjoys a great horror story.
Really enjoyed the story and detailed character development.
This is so intriguing Stephen king is an absolute genius.
Excellent Narrator!
Excellent Narrator, the story had its very high highs and very low lows, but pretty good overall.
Absolutely riveting. I literally feel like the pages are clumps of popcorn I can rip through, for hours while watching an addictive Netflix binge.
Phenomenal story. My only qualm was the way the narrator chose to portray Bill's stutter because it really took me out of the story. It made him sound like someone who had gotten brain damage instead of a natural speech impediment.
I really enjoy this book even though it scares me. The narrator was outstanding.
Amazing book. Stephen Weber does an amazing job!
This is actually my first audiobook, and my first Stephen King novel. The whole book is rich with details, and the storyline is great. I feel like you really come to know all of the characters, and grow attached to them. The narration by Steven Weber is amazing! He really brings the story to life. I would be interested to listen to other books Steven Weber narrates, he's that good.
This is by far one of my favorite books, and is my second favorite King novel. The narration is amazing. That being said it is edited weird and the audio doesn't always cut together well.
Completely awesome and extremely detailed. The first book I ever listened to. 45 hours and now I can get back to my life ha ha. Couldn't stop listening.
One of my favorite Stephen King books as of yet, and yes I read The Stand, which is great but not as great. The story is nothing like the movie, because it dives into such dark areas that the movie would never go. Great audio reader. 5/5. I listened to this more than once if that says anything.
This book is NEVER a disappointment!!! I've read it myself but hearing it Narrated was wonderful! Bravo to Steven Weber; He brings a whole new level of greatness this book. So even if you have already read IT, it pays to listen!
Steven Weber really brought the book to life. It's unfortunate he isn't narrating the book I'm currently listening to. This book is one of the best Stephen King books.
Read this book for the second time. Wonderful descriptions and character development by the "King" of horror.
Fantastic story line! And my goodness, the narrating makes me want to listen to anything else Steven Weber has done!
Simply terrifying. Many of the descriptions of the deaths are quite grotesque. An amazing read.
Everyone knows this is an amazing book. With characters like Richie Toziar, who has a million voices and Bill Denbrough with his horrible stutter, you know this is a hard book to narrate. Nobody does it better than Steven Weber! my favorite audio book of all time!
Very engaging almost as if im watching the film adaptation
A very good read. The narrator did an outstanding job.
Great book and narration, but i just couldn't stand the stuttering.
Amazing! so much more detailed then the movie. I love Stephen King so much. Great narration as well!
Amazing book and beautifully narrated! This is one of the first audio books that I have listened to all the way through.
I love Stephen king and this is one of his I really enjoy.
Awesome book. Love Steven Weber; The Shining miniseries blew that Kubrick movie out of the water. Gotta read or hear this book. I've read it, now years later I get to listen.
This is a great storyline. And with it being narrated by an actor (Steven Webber) it just comes alive!!????
