Unabridged Audiobook
As far as sequels go, this one did not disappoint! I found the big baddy in this one, and the dream world, to be far creepier than Naughty John in the first novel. Don’t get me wrong, both novels had my skin crawling and Libba Bray does an excellent job with the macabre and spine-chilling horrors. However, I found this one all too... real. Almost too close for comfort? Because dreams are something we all experience, so it gave that feel of “this could be me”, so to speak. I loved the introduction of new characters, like Ling Chan. I also loved that this novel delved more into Theta and Henry’s back stories. I LOVED LOVED LOVED how the relationship between Evie and Sam developed, and I am shipping them SO HARD. I was team Jericho after the first novel going into this one, but I am totally team Sam now. Only thing is I wished the novel had focussed on those two a teeny weeny but more. However, all in all, another fantastic novel by Libba Bray! By far one of my favourite authors!!! Can’t wait to read the next one! Also, as a post script note- i listened to this one on audiobook.com and the narrator WAS FANTASTIC! it brought the story to life so much better than just reading it on paper!
The Diviner's Series is one of my all-time favorites, but for me the audiobook is all about January LaVoy! Oh my gosh! I can't say enough good things. There are times listening to her performance of this book, that I'm convinced it's multiple people playing the different characters. She does all kinds of accents, all kinds of moods, all kinds of people, and she ABSOLUTELY makes this audiobook. The writing is chilling, mysterious, captivating, and hilarious. Libba Bray is an amazing author and as long as she writes, I will be one of the first in line for her books.
Another amazing story in the diviner’s series by libba bray, who weaves a mythical tale set in the jazz age of New York City.
Good listen. A lot I wasn't expecting. Got a little scary but cope-able but I'm more of a Harry Potter fan! Good story line. Might be too slow for some people but I liked it as I always wanted to know how it would progress for all the characters. The reader is excellent really brings everything to life
I actually liked this book better than first one! It was a great read and the narrator was amazing!
