This book was good, the timeline was at times chaotic and difficult to follow. In my opinion, this book had too many peoples' perspectives which was unnecessary. Overall a good read with some interesting plot twists, but not the best domestic thriller I've read lately.

Not predictable which I appreciate but some descriptions dragged and the narrator read slowly and dramatically. I listened at 1.5 and it almost sounded normal. They needed to go back to the girls perspective to tie that up after the long intro of her life and experiences with her abductors.

This was a surprisingly fantastic listen. I loved the way the author pulled it together. The ending was a shocker.

I thought this plot was very implausible. There were too many holes in the story and the characters were not well developed. I found the story to be unbelievable.

The narrative could have been less. Another listener said unrealistic in parts, agree. Which is why I fast forwarded in many parts. Lots of potential just falling short, with an interesting twist at the end.

I listened to this in 3 days! I really could not stop listening. The multiple narrators and the back and forth in time added such a complexity to the story. I will say it took some turns I wasn't expecting and a couple parts were a little hard to get through just because of it being graphic!

I found this book somewhat tedious and annoying…and a bit hard to follow as it jumped around so much. Not well written.

This author is new to me…unique style that draws the reader into the story immediately…great read

The story was good with surprising twists and turns , however the narration was annoying to say the least aside from the male. He was very good. The ladies were hard to listen to.

I tried but could not get very far into this book. It dragged and I kept hoping the story would pick up. I tried at 2x speed but it still took too long to get interesting.

It too me MONTHS to finish it. Absolutely horrible writing in this book, none of it makes sense. It also bounces around in a way that makes it confusing. Then the end was the worst part. Wraps everything up in a chapter that doesn’t make sense at all. Narration was nice, though.

Too fantastical. Never happen in a million years. Especially the ending. That was not a suspenseful shocking twist! It was ridiculous. Go ahead. Give it a listen. You will see exactly what I mean.

Local Woman Missing is a book that keeps one’s attention. It is a bit confusing, however, snd the idea of a murderer looking after a child for eleven years is a bit unbelievable. There was more evil, lying, and stupidity than I could stomach!

SO good! From the moment it started I couldn’t put it down. Lots of unexpected twists. Narration was awesome. I loved it!!

Interesting, kept me listening and the twist was so unexpected! The two parallel timelines were intertwined masterfully, not breaking the story's flow and also their information fed into the story very well, making it a whole. The characters were well done too, each with their own personality and the effects of the things that happened, on the characters, were well-researched.

It was an okay book. It left questions unanswered. Who was following the female couple? Who were the people outside of Meredith Dickey's house? Also, who was the person sending the text messages? Meredith guessed it was the jealous neighbor but the texts were about things only someone following her would know. There are just a lot of questions about plots unanswered.

Not my favourite. I had a hard time finishing this book. Some good twists but really far fetched

Great plot. Well read.(I mistakently wrote this to "The Affair Next Door" too, which was so poorly read I gave up after 4 minutes).

I dont like leaving a poor reviews but honestly this book was hard to finish. If you’re currently pregnant, I would avoid this book. Lots of bad pregnancy experiences that are not always the situation in birth. It gave way to much unnecessary info and was hardly about a missing woman. Found myself fast forwarding through a lot of it. And the ending was just ehh.

See through plot changes chock full of holes and characters that beg for better detail and in the end it’s just meh.

Slow start that was difficult to follow initially. I had to get used to the narrator’s slow speech. The story progressively got better and was overall worth the listen despite the ending being implausible.

Not my favorite. Such strangely detailed sections. Such pedantic sentence structure. Interesting twist but so very, very odd with the most rushed ending that didn’t hold true emotionally to the rest of the story.

It came highly recommended as an audio book. Lots of different characters and bouncing back and forth between months and years became a bit annoying. It was good, not great.

badly written, completely unrealistic and convoluted narrative, gets worse towards the end. I'd like to know, in particular, what low life couple would kidnap a child and keep it 11 years in their basement with no other reason then reading about the missing girl in some local newspaper for a few weeks.

Surprise ending.

If you like suspense this is the book for you. From the first word to the last was so good.

I love a book with multiple perspectives that spans timelines but it’s hard to do well. Luckily, this one did it right and with EXCELLENT narration. It’s not a reread for me, which is my threshold for a 5 star rating, but it was very very good.

I liked this book! I usually only listen to audiobooks in the car but with this one, I had it playing even while in bed. The suspense!

Love it....I can normally guess thr plot twist, but this one had me guessing until almost the very end.

Great listen and plot twist was not expected! That's my favorite kind. There were a few parts that were rambling...like the author needed to fill a page. But, the overall book was well worth that!

I really want to know what happens, the mystery and style are amazing. But the violation descriptions are too disturbing. If you’ve ever been raped or mistreated at a pelvic exam this isn’t the read for you. It’s written too accurately and the woman’s experiences are too real/specific. I think I’ll probably wait until I shake it off and try again while skipping those parts, and hope I don’t miss too much detail. So yeah, my criticism is that the writing is too good, I guess.

I was planning to have this audiobook last me a while - just listen to it while I get ready for the day or clean the house but I listened to it all less than two days. Loved it!
