Unabridged Audiobook
Such a great continuation from the previous book! James Patterson always leaves me wanting more and the next book always gives me what I want!
Lots of action, lots of tension. Very scary and I hope nothing like this EVER happens for real!
The sound effects really added to the book however the lead in to every chapter got annoying! Loved the story and the twists!
As usual. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out who The Wolf truly was. Dangit he killed himself, I wanted him to suffer for a while longer. So happy that Shaefer FINALLY got what he deserved. Great read.....uh, listen!!
Could not put my phone down till the last word James Patterson you are the best
Loved it! Very entertaining
This is one of the best books that James Patterson has wrote.
I did not finish the book. Chapters were extremely short. Each new chapter was introduced in a very annoying way. Hard to believe topic. No more James Patterson.
Excellent read as usual. Always love James Patterson.
Suspensful and gripping from the first words. Would recommend for those first time and repeat James Patterson fans.
While the story is good the production is distracting. Each of the very short chapters is introduced by a 15 second percussive sound with an echoing, monster voice saying the number of the chapter. The narrator then also says the chapter number, as if he is unaware that the chapter is already introduced. I found this distracting from the suspense of the story.
This was a fantastic book from start to finish. the sequel to the big bad wolf. very fast paced with lots of action.
Very action packed and as always, Alex Cross is wonderful. The mix of the mystery and his personal life makes the story even more interesting.
I love all of the Alex Cross series, and this one is no exception. I am glad that Alex got rid of one of his enemies in this one. Yet this book leaves you hanging, more than any other one that I can recall. I can't wait to start the next one in the series to see what happens!
Let me begin by saying I am a big Cross fan. This is the second book with two of his bad guys from others - Schaeffer and The Wolf. The Wolf has been one of my favorite bad guys. Smart, paranoid, harsh - a character you just hope to God you never come up against in your own sheltered world. In many ways I found this book reminded Cross of his vulnerabilities and his need to work with a team - not always the guy with insight alone charging in as the Lone Wolf himself. I liked that. Until the last 20 minutes it was easily the most suspenseful of the Cross novels for me. After the big roof scene (you'll see what I mean) I think they should wrapped it up. The rest seemed like superflous fluff after such a magnificent, turbulent ride. Worth listening to for sure. The reader is very good as usual.
Very entertaining and current, as far as terrorists threats go. Patterson is up there with the Clancy's of the spy novelists.
This book was awful. I thought the plot was difficult to follow until I realized it was just bad.
I love James Patterson's books. I enjoy following the Alex Cross series. Another thrilling book and enjoyable to listen to. Very addicting.
This book is a dissapointment. It is written for an 8th grade listener. Waste of time.
good suspensful music, average Patterson book. Ending not quite to par, but enjoyable to listen to.
Another Alex Cross thriller that has interesting twists and turns. A bit on the inplausible side, but who needs realism in a Patterson novel anyway.
Okay, not the greatest book, but keeps Alex Cross's life going. The noises between chapters was annoying!!! Was there something missing? The ending seemed rushed. We will read a long book if it keeps things interesting.
OK, tense story line. But I though I might have to jump off a bridge with the rediculous noise and sound effects between each chapter. Really stupid. Don't do that again, OK? Really bad bad guy. Fun story line. Energy level drops substantially in last couple of discs and anticlimactic conclusion. But it was worth the time, for sure.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story but all of the extraneous sound effects (particularly at each chapter) were quite disconserting. Further, the constant announcements of the chapters, by number became very frustrating and added nothing to the story. If anything, they took away from it because you found yourself listening to make certain the numbers were sequential - they weren't. If this was unabridged, where were the missing chapters?
This book was pretty good. It got a little slow here and there, but overall great story. Some of the scenes were a little too graphic, but I respect his ability to use language to create a perfect mental picture.
Not the best Cross story I've read but it is a good listen
This book was an easy listener. James Patterson is always at his best when he is doing an Alex Cross book. This was not my favorite but I recommend reading this to keep up the series of events in Alex Cross's life.
I have read several James Patterson books...some I have liked and some not so much. This was definately one I would recommend. Alex Cross is terrific...and of course good wins over evil in the end...but along the way..It had a great mix of suspence and personal involvement with the characters. The villian was real and many times the book caught me by surprise. It was tense but not too unbelievable considering real life news these days... I would say it is best if you are going to have some time in the car...as it is hard to turn off.
This is not one of Patterson's best efforts. It's a bit too single threaded, no underlying or interwoven stories, and it kept ending over and over again. However, it was still a good read/listen.
Slow. I almost gave up several times but I hate quitting a book. I'm going to stay away from Patterson for awhile.
Good story about 75% through the book. It then seemed the author tried to wrap things up too quickly.
Entertaining and will keep your interest especially for Alex Cross fans. I did find that the chapter transition sound effect put in by the produces was really annoying. Patterson writes in very short chapters so there were over 100 times that you hear this "effect." Hopefully they will stop doing that.
Fans of Patterson will love this book! Lots of action, a very captivating and sinister villian (the Wolf) and a familiar, amiable protagonist in Alex Cross. In my opinion, the dialogue can be corny and contrived in many places but the author delivers a non-stop tale which is well-read by the narrator.
This book was extremely disappointing. The narration was superb though. The ending was lame, didn't make any sense and left too many questions unanswered, for example, who is the actual wolf???? Are there three of them? And what's up with every other sentence ending with a question mark? Too many "isn't he", "wasn't it", etc. Gets annoying. All in all, a waste of time.
The book was basically terrific, the narrators par excellence. Great story and plot until the last cd. Then, bang, it's over. No real explanation as to why there were two wolves (?) and why his family was kidnapped...the final scene seemed like Patterson was tired of writing the book and wanted to end it. Perhaps this is Patterson's way of setting the scene for his NEXT wolf sequel. If he writes it, I will read it.
Alex Cross gets better and better. Looking forward to a new one.
If you like Patterson's Alex Cross, you'll like this one.
Somewhat confusing trying to keep the characters straight. Never understood why the Cross family was kidnaped. Had good twists and turns, but at times they overly complicated things.
Love this author. Held my interest all the way through.
While not one of his best, I still feel it was a good read. It left me with some questions though... which makes me wonder whether the book just wasn't edited well, or whether it was paving the way for another Alex Cross novel. I suppose only time will tell.
Typical Alex Cross..I still like him even if it's predictable...Maybe some new Characters/Villains would work...??If you like Patterson you'll like this one...
This was a very good listen. It moved a little slowly initially but picked up speed, and was very enjoyable. I would have given it 5 stars except I found the ending rather anticlimatic. After all the buildup, the ending left me unsatisfied.
We really enjoyed this book! Kept us on the edges of our seats from disk 1 to the end. It was also my elderly father's introduction to books on tape; a marvelous experience.
