Not so much about the “lost girls” more so about their captor. I recommend the girls’ individual memoirs.
Good book but the narrator could have been better.
I remember following this case on the news. well written and narrated
A terrible event told in a very detailed fashion. Emotionally it is a difficult read. On the downside, the point of view of a traditionally educated American man who wrote this title it is not exactly neutral. He also wasn't aiming for the insights and didn't try to dig deeper than just reciting the facts.
It was such a horrible story but yet interesting. Somehow I dont remember hearing this before in my country. Less about the girls and more about the captor himself. I wish we could get more insight of the girls perspective. Narrator was very monotonous and at times I ended up zoning out.
I never read much about this horrible tragedy when it was in the news. I had little kids at the time and am now catching up on it. This book was excellent in its description of the girls, their plight, and the perpetrator. The narrator was a bit choppy and interesting choice to have a British person tell an American tale, so it felt a little BBC.
Very well done and well written.
Very difficult read emotionally. Heartbreaking and just horrifying what these girls went through.
Definitely needed to take some breaks in between to clear my head from the horrors and detailed imagery given.
Wow such a interesting book
This is a gripping story that leaves one astounded at the extent of human depravity met with human resilience. The story was well constructed and well narrated.
A real great story of the living torment these girls went throught for so long before finding a way out.
Man. I love this story. Couldn’t stop listening.
I only gave it a 4 star because I felt the narrator was a little dry and robotic and the book was a bit repetitive. I heard some of the same info 3 times. Now I want to get the books from the girls themselves.
Enjoyed every bit of this book. I could barely stop playing it. It gave me constant goosebumps though.
Very interesting and so sad that these girls lost 10 years of their lives to this sick pervert. I do agree with others that the book was more about Castro than the girls but still very interesting.
The memoirs of the ladies are better. There is discrepancies in this books information. Still a good read though.
my heart goes out to those lovely girls for all they gave been through. great listen.
Great. I enjoyed it
very sad book. I couldn't imagine being in that house and having to go through what these young girls had to go through
Awesome book all tho the story it’s horrible to hear and what happened it’s just horrendous but loved listening to this book
True story, good book. A bit slow, overall five stars.
