Summary
Wilder,

When I left that night, I had every intention of coming back to you. To us. But no matter how hard I wish for what I want, there are some things in life that aren't meant to be. I don't expect you to understand. You've already moved on, living your life. But mine ended that night, nine years ago, and I still can't let you go. Not sure I ever will. I regret so many things, but hurting you, I'll never forgive myself. I'm sorry for . . . everything.

Jax~

Jax,

If only you could've seen it like I did, the way you were when you thought the world wasn't watching. How you'd change when I looked at you, when it was just us. But most of all . . . I wish you could've seen how much it hurt me when you disappeared. Regrets are for cowards. It has always been my belief you should chase after the things you want with actions, not words. There is no such thing as never meant to be.
So this apology . . . not accepted . . .

I love second chance stories! This is the first book I’ve read by A.M. Johnson and I loved it. I’m very familiar with Kirt Graves audiobook performances and love them, but this is the first one I’ve listened to by Tim Paige. Both voice actors did a great job with this book. The chapters alternated between Jax and Wilder, with each performer taking a chapter. Jax and Wilder were together in college until Jax suddenly disappeared without any explanation. He wasn’t out and was raised by conservative religious parents who believe that living as a gay person was a sin. I love how a lot of the story was told in email and text messages. I never had any trouble following the content of these exchanges. I really felt the connection between the characters. The things that Jax has been through in the nine years since he left Wilder were heartbreaking. This story tore me apart and then put me back together again. A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Never knowing the reason why Jax disappeared, Wild was left unable to form real attachments. When Jax reappeared back in to his life several years later, Wild was again uncertain. This story is about second chances, overcoming fears and loving someone wholeheartedly. This was my first book by A. M. Johnson and I very much enjoyed it. Narrators, Kirt Graves and Tim Paige, did an outstanding job giving voice to Jax and Wild. I received an ARC for this book and I voluntarily give my honest review.

Cute book The romance was okay, for a second chance romance, however I didn’t actually like Wilder who had a big part of the book, unfortunately. There’s dramatic and there’s unreasonable, and I always found Wilder as unreasonable, even when I understood it. I enjoyed the audio, liked both narrators and thought they’d done a good job with the story. Thought I wasn’t a fan of them saying the details of the emails, it irritated me so much, but I can understand that’s a me thing, and that it made sense in physical form. It should also be noted there are on page sex scenes with a person that wasn’t the love interest as well as lustful thoughts and contemplation though that was a little different then the first which doesn’t put the main character in a good light. That didn’t bother me though I’m not really a fan of publishing in a book, which is completely me, but for some reason it’s never been a thing I’ve enjoyed reading about.

I loved reading the ebook and couldn't wait for the audiobook. I enjoyed listening to it, but sadly it didn't give me those feelings when reading the book. When a story is narrated by two different narrators I just can't enjoy it as much as if it would be only one. The two voice are so different and when I got used to one, it changes and it gets mixed again, then the next chapter it changes again...and again... Both narrators were new to me, but I liked Wilder's voice better then Jax's (don't know which narrator was which). The book itself is great, it's a 5 star read for me, but the audio was only 4 star. My review about the ebook is HERE : Heartbreakingly beautiful love story. I needed this book in my life like air. I needed to know Jax and Wild's story so bad. I need more books like this. Everyone needs to read this story. You have to meet Jax and Wild. You have to be there with them, hurt for them and be happy with them. I loved Wild and I adored Jax. Loved the email and text scenes and loved how they got to know each other more and more (again). I couldn't wait for them to meet for the first time (again). It was both heartbreaking and beautiful. The love between Jax and Wild is a big and beautiful thing. This is the kind of love story you want for yourself too. And my favorite thing: Jax's brother, Jason. I kind of hope he got his own book too, I ship him with Ethan! Highly recommend this book. One of the most beautiful love story of this year.

This book is absolutely amazing, one of my favorites ever. The depth and complexity of the characters is mind-blowing, and being able to hear their story makes my heart full. The story between Wilder and Jax is hard, long and painful. From self doubt to fear of outside opinions, they are both fighting their demons, each in their own way. I loved the plot, the exchange between them, how everything started and how it ended, I couldn't be happier with it. The narrators were awesome, I feel like they gave life to the characters, making them feel real. I genuinely recommend it, be ready to laugh, shout and cry, it one hell of a journey, and I wouldn't chang a thing ♥️
