Unabridged Audiobook
Not a huge fan of the narration. I read the book's physical copy last month and loved it. So I decided to give it a listen since it was chosen as my book club's monthly pick. The biggest issue: Angel is not coming across as smooth and intelligent as he seems in the writing. I think maybe they're trying to give him a "southern" accent, but it's not reading as such.
I feel that the narrators could benefit from more preparation before recording, as it sometimes seems like they haven’t fully engaged with the text and its punctuation. Additionally, their interpretation of Angel’s character doesn’t align; she is making him come across as less intelligent than intended. As a fan of the author, I’m concerned that the narration choices might detract from the overall experience of the book. It would be great to see a more cohesive approach that stays true to the characters.
