Summary
Few things, even in literature, can really be said to be unique - but Moby Dick is truly unlike anything written before or since. The novel is nominally about the obsessive hunt by the crazed Captain Ahab of the book's eponymous white whale. But interspersed in that story are digressions, paradoxes, philosophical riffs on whaling and life, and a display of techniques so advanced for its time that some have referred to the 1851 Moby Dick as the first "modern" novel.

The story in and of itself is great, the characters take on a real uniqueness necessary in a good book. That being said the book itself is trash, so many outdated lectures on whales/whaling that detracted from the whole. It genuinely felt like the author was simply trying to display and gloat about his knowledge base of sailing/whaling. More a self polishing piece than the work of fiction or should have been.

Didn’t enjoy it. Too many insertments about whales, and whaling. Lost the story theme so many times gave up.

Not sure why the word "quote" was irritating my ears, had to close down.

A book as grand as it’s subject. Excellent narration .

Enjoyable, however, the majority of the book is a nature study based in the late 1800s and therefore outdated.

This guy should only read text books . He is drab and lacks oomph or emotion where needed. Plus if he curved his voice, tone or even used an accent maybe others could distinguish between quotes and actual storyline. This reading is very mundane lost interest in a classic, how awful.
