First one was really good. Second was enjoyable. Third was bearable, but the fourth I couldn’t even finish. Brown is a great writer but is much too easy to figure out. Darrow is one of the most dimwitted characters ever created and can’t seem to learn from past mistakes. I should have stopped when I was ahead.

L oved this trilogy. The action and twists are never ending. A few scenes that made me cry and reminded me of Dobby in HP. Overall a great story. Going to listen to the 4th book which is apparently a different storyline.

I am soooo invested to each character. The twists .. emotional parts. These books are the best I have read in a long time.

Gory hell- lots of blood and guts in these books and lots of, sometimes gratuitous, violence and detailed torture. I probably wouldn’t have started the series had I known what I was getting myself in to with all of this. However, this is my third book. I like to finish a series once I start it. And damn it, the premise and story line are compelling through book three. I stopped in book 4 however when the lead character does something that is unforgivable but mainly completely out of character. I am not sure I trust the author to write the truth. Perhaps he is more concerned with creating drama for the sake of ratings. Perhaps success went to his head. Perhaps the author’s ego substituted for that of his character’s ego. Not sure- but I did not find what was written to be believable or in context with the first three books. I highly recommend the first three if you can stand the gore. And these books are a great lesson, not just in history alone, but in the not so subtle undercurrents of our modern day society.

Perfect conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. Brilliantly read by Tim Gerard Reynalds. TGR is Darrow O’ Lycos, Reaper of Mars!

the narrator defiantly makes all the difference here. wow he was mazing and made the book much more enjoyable. the book it self was very good and very well written altho some of the story was predictable I recommend it very much I'm not a post apocalyptic fan usually but this is full of action an emotion there is nothing like a guy who isn't ashamed to cry and Darrow does that a lot....

I could not put down Morning Star. It was a redemption story, but it was a broken one. I read it so fast I don't think I can even give a review justice. I loved the series and was happy to find out it continues.

My own darkness could be described as red vs gold. The best of both was my own while listening.

super predictable ending. and it saddens me because the first two books are two of my favorite books. just can't except that that the person in power in the end just continues the status quo however g ou look at it a gold still sits on the throne and the larger part of the population will accept that. if only there was someone who knew both worlds gold and red that could lead. actually saw where it was headed half way threw the book and flipped pages to confirm it.

Fantastic book. I had listened to the first two of the series and then started reading the third. I had to quit and get the audiobook because Reynolds does such a superb job at bringing the characters to life. Could have done without the Bye Felicia moment, but Brown delivered another hit.

The first book was the better of the 3 so far. As the series progresses it loses its flavor. I'm on book 4 and it's dry.

Couldn’t stop listening to this. Action packed with lots of twists and turns. Bit it is the characters that I will remember long after I have finished the book. Well done. This trilogy would cost a fortune to make into a series of films but it would be spectacular.
