Unabridged Audiobook
Weak storyline with too many phrases repeated throughout.
James Frey is one of the great writers of our time. Whether his "memoirs" are true or not, there is no denying that my generation is lucky to have this amazing author living during our day. Lasting, compelling, thought-provoking, and another excellent read by James Frey.
This is the follow up to James Frey's first book, A Million Little Pieces. It was a story that I wanted to hear more about and I enjoyed listening to both of them. In some places (towards the later chapters) in My Friend Leonard, some of the telling of the story was redundant, but I did listen to the full story.
Well written and well narrated, this book is a real gem. It is one of the rare selections that I was truly sad to have end. I fell in love with all of the quirky characters. If you pass this one by, you will be depriving yourself of hours of pleasurable entertainment.
A great reader makes this a very good book. The story is fast paced and interesting. Funny and sad.
Wonderful book. A lot of heart and a truly good story. I liked it even better than A Million Little Pieces!
I liked "A Million Little Pieces" although in some parts I felt it dragged on. This book didn't have as much dragging, but few moments. I did get tired of hearing "my son" all the time, but that is minor in retrospect. Although, not entirely believable, I did not care. I listened to it as a story and allowed myself to enjoy it that way without judgment. It kept me entertained and I wanted to know what would happen next. Liked it better than first book.
I liked this book for the most part. It started off kind of slow and for a while, I wasn't sure where it was going. But I eventually developed an attachment to the characters and was quite satisfied with the end. I also really enjoyed Frey's writing style and I thought the narrator did a really good job.
I greatly enjoyed the intensity, action and growth of 'A Million Little Pieces', however, this book was missing some of that, and dragged on in some parts. It didn't feel as real as the first book, and the ending had a twist that I didn't like. Overall, I think that this book is worth reading, but it just wasn't as good as the first one.
Enjoyable. I read "Million Little Pieces" and I think it was better. Narrator has a pleasant voice.------------------------------------
I loved this book. I actually liked it more than the prequal. It is very well written (and read). I became very attached to the characters and the storyline kept my attention. I highly recommend this book.
Well written, great voice on the audio, excellent transition of characters. I enjoyed the book and thought it was entertaining.
