book was not good... poor average!! waist of time
I love this book. I bought it for a few friends too. Every chapter wasn't relevant for me. It's more of a textbook for different types of negotiation situations. I was looking to negotiate a job offer. But the principles apply. I was able to take the information I learned and apply it to the job-offer situation and many others after.
Excellent narrative with compelling and inspiring stories full of applicable lessons.
The only book to actually present more than 2 strategies on how to negotiate that I have encountered. I prefer this book over Noah Voss' Never Split the Difference: Negotiate As If Your Life Depended Upon It. Voss' book does not present more than 2 strategies, and though both are highly effective I felt it was not a good return on the investment. Malhotra clearly knows what he is talking about and delivers on what he promises. A recommended read.
Outlined information is clear ans makes sense. The books isn't cluttered with theory and academic jargon; it feels written for real-world application. Ipurchased it for class and it may save my personal relationship. It focuses in working together toward someething mutually beneficial (give to get) versus solely seeing personal interests and limiting your overall value.
This book is very interesting and insightful and very useful. The book is very well researched and well written. Harvard University has a renowned program on effective negotiation. This book is evidenced based on a very interesting and important topic negotiation. I recommend this book without qualifications for everyone
AMAZING BOOK! If you want to better yourself in all aspects of life you need to have tools and I feel this book will give you some of those tools needed to accomplish that!
It takes the mystery and some stress out of negotiation. It teaches you to be patient and that there's a lot of research you can do. It's not just salesmanship and charisma. Plus, the book was a good read, entertaining in parts, for a business book.
Probably one of the best books on Negotiation out there. BATNA, ZOPA.. mean nothing if you don't understand the background/rationale behind it. Full of examples and anecdotes that get you thinking about the way you have been negotiating until now. Definitely worth buying
Wonderful book. It taught me how to be a better negotiator while being an interesting read. I went from being very shy and timid in the world of negotiation to being much more confident in myself.
The author really knows what he's talking about, each chapter is full of useful & practical guidance you can start implementing straight away. The delivery is very clear and all techniques are backed up by solid examples.
