Unabridged Audiobook
GREAT read for military/law enforcement at any time in the career and to read over and over again as a reminder. DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone.
Brilliantly written by Ret. Lt.Col Grossman. I couldn't put it down. NO other book has helped me to understand myself and lift the veil of shame and regret. I am proud to be an American, warrior, mother and guardian of the sheep, WHOA! Thank you Colonel.
Ltd College. Grossman is a very intelligent man. I love his books and have attended his seminars. I'd highly recommend a live seminar or book.
Back in 2009, I was a boot corpsman getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines. I remember this book being passed around and I eventually got the chance to read it. Having never experienced combat before, I was skeptical about some of the things written in the book. Surely, some of the stuff seemed exaggerated, however, most of it seemed like useful information for someone who was trying to get in the mindset of being in combat. Once in country, I slowly began experiencing some of the things Col. Grossman had written about. There were still some things like time slowing down and auditory shutoff that I had yet to experience and I began to become skeptical about. That changed late in my deployment when my squad was ambushed at close range by a significantly larger force. I came home from that deployment trying to make sense of what I had gone through over the last 7 months. I had a lot of trouble trying to get over what had happened and had to decided to go back and listen to this book. This book has helped to give me the tools to understand not only what I went through but also how to deal with the "puppy" when he comes to visit. Col. Grossman's work in this book and also in "On Killing" is something that I recommend for any warrior who has trouble trying to make sense of what happened in combat.
