Must read for any woman from the onset of periods (or slightly before) to perimenopausal women. There are so many things in this book that I wish I knew throughout my life, and I really think they should use this book as a reference for HS health classes. So many of my health issues in mid-adulthood could have been avoided if I had known this information.

This book is NOT written for women looking for birth control methods. This book IS written for women who are taking hormonal birth control for medical, non-contraceptive reasons and are interested in alternatives. The author seems to assume that her readers either want to get pregnant, or are cool with an un-planned pregnancy. In my opinion, though the pill is not perfect and is not for everyone, it is irresponsible of the author to shame and scare women who use it or may benefit from trying it. Her birth control solutions? The FAM method (aka natural family planning - the quickest way I know to get pregnant) and barrier methods. I have been on the pill for over 20 years and it has made my life immeasurably better. I am now at an age where I am considering leaving it behind and was hoping this book would help me let go of that life preserver. There are some nuggets of good info in here (why I gave it any stars at all), but not much I didn't already know from grade school health class. Not super helpful.
