Summary
Legend holds that Glendower, a vanished Welsh king, sleeps beneath the hills until he's needed. The first person to find him will be granted a wish - either by seeing him open his eyes, or by cutting out his heart.

Gansey has it all - family money, a car, time for extracurriculars and friends - but he's always loved the tales of sleeping kings. He thinks he's found one too, or at least the area where one might be: in the town of Henrietta, VA. And the best way to be there is to attend prestigious Aglionby Academy for Boys.

Blue is the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, but is too practical to believe in things like spirits or true love. Her policy is to stay away from Aglionby boys...but it may be that one in particular can change her mind about magic, and maybe even love.

Man this girl can write. She has the ability to draw the listener along with her to meet these fantastical characters. Drags you along, like Bob Marley being forced by Christmas ghosts, to see things about this story that you cannot see, but must. This story takes you not through a rabbit hole but drops you unprotected from a great hight into a rift of exquisite and unimaginable phycological dares. Will Patton, with his southern accents done perfectly, over his already charming drawl, is to my mind the perfect reader for these books. This woman is a force to be reckoned with. My new favorite, maybe my all time favorite author. This comes from a sixty five year old woman who has read thousands of books. My absolutely highest recommendation.

As this is my 3rd time reading through this series (as someone who doesn't reread often), I think it's safe to announce The Raven Cycle (and the follow-up Dreamer Trilogy!) as my favorite book series! I always find new wonder in Maggie Stiefvater's writing, and Will Patton brings his own magic to the story with his reading

I enjoyed this book. Even though there's obviously a sequel, there's not the sense that you're left hanging. This novel has its own arc and i find that most satisfying. I love the character development. There's much more depth to discover, but I felt like these were real people, not just cardboard stand-ups. The action was thrilling. I regret my review isn't as good as the book. But ignore that part and go read The Raven Boys.

Loved this book ..... fabulously entertaining story. Will Patton is by far my favorite narrator. He is very expressive with his "reading".

This is everything I love- the intrigue of a YA novel plus the words of a Pat Conroy and the plot and feel of a Stephen King. It encapsulates growing up in the South and the magic around it, but with all the skulls and bones of old British tale. Cannot wait to read more!

Will Patton is amazing! He read this entire series so well that I actually prefer him reading it to actually reading the book myself (which is not normal at all). Excellent story and characters as well. LOVE everything about this.

I am a huge fan of the narrator, so I picked this book solely because of him. This is a great book for young adults, and I may continue with the others sometime in the future.

It was read good I like it. The only thing I didn't like was his girl voice seem like he trying to hard to sound like a girl but I guess that's so we know who is talking.

Loved the book. The narration would have been excellent if the mispronunciation of Glyndwr had not been so jarring.

I also downloaded the book as part of June Promotion. In my earlier life I was a reading specialist with a passion for childrens' and young adult fiction. This is an excellent novel in all the ways that count. I was initially disappointed in the ending, having listened to the book not realizing it was part of a trilogy. With this new understanding just the right number of loose ends were tied up, leaving the reader wanting more. I'm hooked, I'll be in for all three

Is anyone else's first chapter messing up? It's so difficult to listen to when the book keep jumping from the prologue back to the chapter!

The plot was original and imaginative. The characters were drawn expressively. The narrator contributed much to the mood and understanding of the story. This is the second series by Maggie Stiefvater that I listened to or read, and I highly recommend her work.

I enjoyed this book. I'm not much for writing reviews but will say that I will be reading the follow up books by this author. Does that tell you something?

I got this book during the free audiobook month in June and honestly I was not expecting much. In fact I was expecting less when I read that the Authors other books were compared to Twilight and appealed to its fan base. Thats not my demographic at all. This book however pulled me in, I am deeply impressed by the Authors empathy and understanding of core dynamics between people, the kinship that can bond as well as the duality of love/loathing in the same breath. I found the characters were whole, that they were a work of love on the Authors behalf and they all have room to grow. The story itself is interesting, yes another paranormal in todays world kind of thing but it is told with charm and a pace that never feels forced. I hope the second book only continues to build on a fantastic foundation here, but most of all Im happy to have stumbled upon this gem of an Author. Its hard to find Authors with complexity and perception these days without them wandering into the realm of pretentious, this one does not. Narrator does the book justice as well, solid purchase all around.

This was a great book that really dragged me in and kept me hanging on every word. However, when the audiobook ended I figured that something must be wrong with the app because it seemed like it just cut off in the middle. Turns out the book just SEVERELY lacks an ending of any kind. All of the questions they spend all book building were never answered. There was no real ending at all, it just stops!!!!
