Summary
The New York Times bestselling collection of humorous autobiographical essays by the Academy Award nominated actress and star of Up in the Air and Pitch Perfect.

Even before she made a name for herself on the silver screen starring in films like Pitch Perfect, Up in the Air, Twilight, and Into the Woods, Anna Kendrick was unusually small, weird, and “10 percent defiant.”

At the ripe age of thirteen, she had already resolved to “keep the crazy inside my head where it belonged. Forever. But here’s the thing about crazy: It. Wants. Out.” In Scrappy Little Nobody, she invites readers inside her brain, sharing extraordinary and charmingly ordinary stories with candor and winningly wry observations.

With her razor-sharp wit, Anna recounts the absurdities she’s experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture as only she can—from her unusual path to the performing arts (Vanilla Ice and baggy neon pants may have played a role) to her double life as a middle-school student who also starred on Broadway to her initial “dating experiments” (including only liking boys who didn’t like her back) to reviewing a binder full of butt doubles to her struggle to live like an adult woman instead of a perpetual “man-child.”

Enter Anna’s world and follow her rise from “scrappy little nobody” to somebody who dazzles on the stage, the screen, and now the page—with an electric, singular voice, at once familiar and surprising, sharp and sweet, funny and serious (well, not that serious).

Listening to Anna herself tell her story was a delight! She's irrepressibly funny and there is a deeper knowledge of herself even in her self depreciation. Loved it! Hope she writes another!

Anna Kendrick empowers the quirky, but mighty ladies every where. She's funny and defines every day strength to be yourself. Easy light-hearted listen.

Im a bit biased because I think Kendrick is a fantastic Actress. She comes across just as I would have imagined from the characters she plays. I actually bought the paperback to give to my 18-year-old daughter.

Fabulously funny! Spontaneously laughed out loud a dozen times. I long for the day I can tell her to her face how much I enjoyed and learned from her first autobiography. Fingers crossed she will write another.

A bit of a slow start, but overall a really good listen that makes you feel like you're friends with Anna. Recommend for all the awkward, lazy, and aloof people out there seeking a virtual connection

I loved this book! It was so entertaining, and didn't feel like the typical, boring, autobiographies that some people write where it seems to drag on and get super boring. This whole book was pretty much a storytime where she just retells stories from her childhood, and she had some good lessons to be learned from some of the stories she told. She didn't dwell too much on the boring bits about her career, and even if she did, she didn't make those parts boring. Unlike some autobiographies, she managed to make the parts about her talking about her career interesting. I really appreciate that because I feel like when people who've made autobiographies talk about their career, or how they began to get started in their career, they often tell stories and talk about it, but it starts to become super uninteresting and becomes a real snoozefest. This didn't feel that way and I really appreciate and like that!

First off if you are not a fan of hers you probably will not like it. No the stories are not life changing or anything fancy, they are just her being her and let's face it she is just a human. I am glad I listened to it, and I enjoyed it.

i agree that it wouldn't have been the same if she wasn't narrating. I will admit...i was judgy before I got the audiobook and was sceptical. But I was pleasantly surprised that she was witty and edgy. A little tooo self-deprecating though. but yeah...her narration was great.

She is a very interesting and unique girl who really doesnt need to sware so much as she has an excellent vocabulary available to her. I like how articulate and expressive she is for someone so young...will be waiting for her next book: After she has met the right man and had babies...i am unabashedly old-fashioned but I love a good actor's memoir

Entertaining. It wouldn't have been the same if she wasn't the narrator. It had more cussing than suits my taste, but she is just being herself, so who am I to judge. Overall, it's a well written peek into a young actors mind.

Thought I'd enjoy this more because I'm a fan of a lot of Kendrick's work, but her stories left me underwhelmed. Many felt shallow and overly self indulgent. :(

Awesome! Wish I could write a review that did this book some justice! And the narration was even better. Hope the is another one some day.

I have always felt like a long lost twin of this girl, and now after hearing her book, I'm pretty sure we're best friends. She really makes you feel like you're in a conversation with her (albeit a one-way conversation). I love her honesty, humor and insight into film-making.

Refreshing, funny and relatable. Anna is down to earth and has the confidence to laugh at herself. I haven't really followed her acting career but I'm a fan of her "cups" song, and now her book.

I loved every minute of this book and was so happy that Anna narrated it herself! I'm about to listen for the third time, she's so funny & isn't afraid to tell her embarrassing stories. I hope she writes another one!

I loved this book. I found her story to be very relatable and honest. Her tone of voice and express makes each story and makes you feel apart of the madness. I would definitely recommend reading (or listening) her book.

So disappointing. I could not listen to much. I've enjoyed Anna Kendrick's acting career very much, but her book seems to be "trying to hard" to be funny. I found it lacking taste.

The most genuine and painfully honest book I've ever read, or listened to. I now believe Anna and I are either soulmates or very distantly related. She's so raw and real, it's both concerning and comforting. I say concerning because she is so open and being open can be scary especially for celebrities. I praise her all the more for it. I say comforting because I felt freed by my own crazy. It wants out. I hope to be more like Anna when I grow up. Full disclosure, I'm 28.

Great memoir. Honest and spunky. I'm a big fan of Anna's transparency and her narration made it fantastic. This was fun to listen to while traveling for work. Not too hard to pick up and have to put down.

Awesome story, funny and relatable. We tend to as people to raise celebrities up onto a pedestal and forget that they are people just like ourselves. Having only known this actresses through her work starting with pitch perfect. It was interesting learning about the rise and struggles of having a career that when you do a good job everyone suddenly learns everything about you but yet the financial rewards are not as forthcoming.

I really liked this book. She seems "nice" and as incompetent as I am. It feels real, and makes me hate celebrities a lot less, mainly Anna. I hope you stole the money from the pizza party. I love that she narrates it herself, it makes it all that more real.
