Summary
A beautiful English lady falls for a Scottish highlander in this delightful historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another, private reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, Laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

In a spirited clash of wills and customs, Judith reveled in the melting bliss of Iain's searching kisses, his passionate caresses. Perplexed by her sprightly defiance, bemused by her tender nature, Iain felt his soul growing into the light and warmth of her love. Surely nothing would wrench her from the affection and trust of Iain and his clan...not even the truth about her father, a devastating secret that could shatter the boldest alliance, and the most glorious of loves!

Loved it! The narrator was fine for me. She does have an odd inflection on the end of a sentence, but I think it's her accent and it didn't bother me.

all the male characters sound reallllly creepy, like they're 80, have smoked all their lives and makes you want to throw your listening device at some point. everytime a line reads "someone said' the narrator is so monotone that the story was hard to listen to.i do reccomend just reading it

This was a very good story line. The plot moved along with plenty of arcs to keep my attention. The narrator did a fabulous job with the different characters.

Excellent story and the narrator makes it that much better. I love the comedy especially from the priest.

The story was difficult for me to listen to because of the narrator. I didn't like the voices she gave to the characters especially the male ones

The book was pretty good. I liked the ending - very touching. I have a major issue with the narration though. The woman ends every sentence on the same note. There was very little undulation or modulation going on. It almost made me quit listening. Her man voices sounded like whispers. I made it through the book, but will not be listening to another narration from her. Maybe it's just me, and you will love it. Listen to the 3 minute sample, and if it doesn't annoy you then you'll be ok. I think Karen Moning's highlander series is much better, but it has to do with the fae and druids, and that's just my taste.
