New York Times bestselling author Paula Brackston returns to the Found Things series with Secrets of the Chocolate House.

After her adventures in the seventeenth century, Xanthe does her best to settle back into the rhythm of life in Marlborough. She tells herself she must forget about Samuel and leave him in the past where he belongs. With the help of her new friends, she does her best to move on, focusing instead on the success of her and Flora’s antique shop.

But there are still things waiting to be found, still injustices needing to be put right, still voices whispering to Xanthe from long ago about secrets wanting to be shared.

While looking for new stock for the shop, Xanthe hears the song of a copper chocolate pot. Soon after, she has an upsetting vision of Samuel in great danger, compelling her to make another journey to the past.

This time she'll meet her most dangerous adversary. This time her ability to travel to the past will be tested. This time she will discover her true destiny. Will that destiny allow her to return home? And will she be able to save Samuel when his own fate seems to be sealed?

This is a great chill out read. It’s twists and turns are good without being overly threatening as Xanthe is becoming a tough lady and you just know she’s going to figure it out. I like her character better towards the end of this book as she’s lost the sometimes helpless self-pitying tone she had in the first book. Now she takes responsibility for her gifts and uses her head to survive. Her mother’s character is great. I like the horrible recipes! The male characters are well drawn too - I like Harley who I imagine is built like a fridge - casting his shadow over the whimpy Marcus. Lol - such a chill read. The narrator is great - her voice is attractive and her accents are good.

I really loved this book series. It was easy listening with the great job the narrator did. And loved the supernatural part of it. I do wish that it had more history about the people that were involved in the past. Highly recommend the books.

I already listened to the first book, and I was certainly not disappointed by the sequel. There was just one downside in this book. The former boyfriend from London. He didn't add anything to the story, and it seemed like he got forgotten at the end. But I cannot wait for the third book to come out on audiobooks.com. HURRY!!!
