Unabridged Audiobook
Keeping in mind that having read two speed reading books and finding those helpful, this book still feature new information that has definitely added value to my reading repertoire. Practice has been vital though.
The entire idea if the book can be summed up in one line: visualizing written content. While this may sound rudimentary or oversimplified, most people, if they are like me, do not (or did not) do this properly and/or actively. This book walks you through the simple process of doing so in a fashion that aids recall through improved concentration and simultaneously increases speed as a byproduct
I've read through several speed reading books and programs designed to do what this book also offers. None of my previous attempts resulted in any kind of fruitful outcomes. Applying techniques in this book however, I managed to increase my reading speed from 250 wpm before I started, to 350+ by the end.
I appreciate especially that this book tells you step by step what to do in order to engage the Right Brain in the process of reading. After some practice I expect to improve my reading efficiency and comprehension.
I highly recommend this author's speed reading books - he turned me into a high comprehension speed reader with my reading as fast as my visualizing permits, certainly a faster reader than a one word at a time reader!!
With a lot of professional help I was able to advance all the way to graduate school, and more; but I've always been a slow and distracted reader, and over the years I felt that the techniques applied to me in order to overcome dyslexia somehow short circuit in my right brain. Well, after this book all that changed. Immediately I felt the results and this form of reading feels very natural. Best book ever!
At first glance, this might seem far out. But after some practice it became easier and easier to accomplish and the more one does it the easier it is to employ. It's definitely a very right-brained way of conceptualizing words which solidifies comprehension. The visuals, at least for me, played out like a movie once you get the hang of it.
It's premise is that individuals, by employing the use of the right brain, will be able of not just increase their reading speed, but be able to further solidify their comprehension by visualizing the words as ideas, rather than just words.
This book is amazing because it tackles all aspects of the reading process. What I like most is that author takes into consideration various factors while explaining the process
