Unabridged Audiobook
Not perfect but definitely worth reading. While Ferguson does go deep in to the history of networks of all types, (political, social, financial, electronic, etc) he sometimes doesn't go deep enough, which is evident in his sometimes incorrect conclusions. He explains with reasonable clarity how networks compare to hierarchies, and gives much food for thought on the strengths and weaknesses of both in numerous contexts. While this book is pretty good, it's not great. If you want great, go read Yuval Harari's trilogy of books on Sapiens.
