Summary
After a terrible car accident destroys her life as she knew it, twenty-year-old Kacey escapes to Florida, where she encounters an irresistible man determined to capture her wounded heart.

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago, Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. They’re struggling to make ends meet at first, but Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes and deep dimples, and perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable, and Trent is desperate to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means revealing an explosive secret that could shatter both their worlds.

WOW! I absolutely loved this book. What a touching, heartfelt story. I enjoyed this novel from the first chapter. I love the way the author pulls us into the story slowly and allows the revelations to come naturally. It kept me flipping pages furiously, wondering what was going to happen next. There is a fantastic twist near the end that, although I saw coming, didn’t have any less of an impact. It was emotional and had me in tears. I love a book that grabs me so thoroughly it can wring tears from me—it doesn’t happen often. Kasey was an awesome character. I felt so bad for what she suffered, but at the same time would get so angry with her sometimes. I can live with a character doing frustrating things or making decisions I wouldn’t make when there is a good reason for it. And there definitely was. I loved the instant spark between her and Trent. Their chemistry was so strong, I literally felt it. Trent made the book for me. Not only was he gorgeous and wonderful, but he’s the perfect tortured hero. When we finally find out about his background and what he’s been through, I wanted to wrap in him my arms and give him a giant hug. I loved him. The whole story was fantastic, but the epilogue was so satisfying it left me grinning. Overall, this was one of my top reads this year. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an emotionally charged love story that is so much more than just a romance. I think fans of Colleen Hoover would really enjoy this book.
