Summary
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author S.C. Stephens comes a powerful and emotional contemporary romance featuring a young woman in a new city who finds herself torn between her handsome, reliable boyfriend and a sexy local rock star.

For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender, and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together—Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university—everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.

It's my absolute favorite series. Maybe it's because I can relate to this story a little. No one truly wants to hurt another person, but sometimes, you just can't help it. The push and pull ,wants, and needs are incredible. My all-time favorite!

I'm a sucker for romances but was weary to buy this audio book, thinking it might be too cheesey. However, I actually enjoyed the story. The push and pull between the characters made me hate and love them. I felt bad for Denny and hated how Kiera was leading him on and cheating on him. plus who can resist an aussie accent? I sure can't! At the same time I kind of had to blame Denny for leaving her alone with Kellan. If you don't want the dog to steal your food, then dont leave your plate unattended... There were times I really blamed Kellan too. He pursued Kiera, knowing she was dating his friend. He didn't care, he wanted her. Yey at the same time he redeems himself because he had fallen in love with her and knew it was wrong so he tried to make the right decisions, he just wasnt very successful. A lot of the issues that occured had to do with their age too. I'm 30 so a lot of the time I was cringing and thinking, nooooo what are they doing!! Lol. I like when stories can rollercoaster my emotions and this one definitely did so now I'm listening to the sequel, Effortless.

I blush with embarrassment for having downloaded to this book. A tear escapes my eye just thinking of it. I feel guilty for the 20 hours I spent listening to a self-centered dimwit tell the story of how she convinces herself that cheating on her boyfriend is not actually cheating. Really a horrible and predictable story.

Worst. Book. Ever. Way too long for an anti-climactic story of a silly, predictable, push and pull "love" story. I really don't recommend it for anyone who likes books. Ugh. Don't waste your money or time on this love triangle story.

Horrible. Truly a painful listening experience. I cannot imagine how anyone has enjoyed this book enough to give it even 1/2 a star and I wish that was a rating option. The plot is dull, predictable, and about as exciting as watching paint dry. The main character says the same annoying words over and over and over (you get my point)...if I hear the phrase "my beautiful boy" one more time I thought I'd scream. Do yourself a huge favor and don't waste your time or money on this book. It will be 20 hours of your life you will never get back. The ratings and stars of reviewers of this particular title make me question the legitimacy of "ratings" all together on this site. Don't walk, run...

I really enjoyed this book. It was so engaging, which is exactly what you want from an audiobook. I didn't get sick of the narrator after the 23 hours, which is really saying something. Loved it.

This book while well written makes you want to smack the lead character. If a girl had treated my son like she did I would be in jail for assault at the very least. That being said it was a good listen even though you wanted to smack the immature female lead.

I wanted to hate kiera for wanting her cake and eating it too as the old saying goes but after a while the author makes you feel the hurt of a woman in love with 2 men and not wanting to hurt either one of them. I cried for her pain in making a very difficult decision that was finally made for her. It makes you feel the gut wrenching pain for all parties involved. I can't wait to listen to the next book as the characters are addictive. I'm so glad this is a series of three because one wasn't enough.

I had a real hate/love experience with this book. My hands are itching to give it 1 star for so many reasons, but if I’m being completely honest and fair, I can’t. This was truly the most emotionally evocative book I’ve ever read. I was so angry at Kiera that at some points I almost busted my reader. Grudgingly, I have to admit it did make me cry though. Despite how much I wanted her to suffer, I still cried for her when the time came. I’ve gotta give the author props for that, making me empathize with a woman I absolutely hate. I can’t help thinking of Bruno Mars’ song Grenade when I read this book. When he sings “Easy come, easy go. That's just how you live, oh. Take, take, take it all. But you never give.” He could be singing about Kiera. She is literally the most selfish heroine I’ve ever read. She made every single wrong decision a person could make. Literally, a person could set their entire moral compass just by doing the opposite of everything she does. There were parts of this book where I wanted nothing more than her suffering. At one point I almost threw in the towel and quit reading, but I forced myself to finish. What really surprised me though were the guys, Denny and Kellan. Why did they love this selfish wench? When Bruno Mars sings “I'd catch a grenade for you. Throw my hand on a blade for you. I'd jump in front of a train for you. You know I'd do anything for you.” He could have been singing about Denny and Kellan. They should have despised this girl, and yet they’d do anything for her. Even after everything comes to light, they still bend over backwards for her. I didn’t understand that at all. Overall, I’d love to give a low rating just because of Kiera, but I have to give credit to the story itself. It was undoubtedly engrossing. By the end, I was in tears and dying to see how it would end. I almost started feeling sorry for Kiera and thinking that she was young and inexperienced and would hopefully learn from her colossal mistakes. Will I read Effortless? Um, yeah. I hate to admit it, but I will. It’s like driving by a car accident. You don’t really want to look but you can’t help yourself.
