Summary
From Colleen Hoover, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Starts with Us and It Ends with Us, a heart-wrenching love story that proves attraction at first sight can be messy.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I have never before eliminated a book before completion. This was not good writing and really just a verbal porn activity. Looked for the plot. Ugh.

One of the few book I've read in a while that I actually wouldn't mind reading again. Hands down one of the best from Hoover. Excellent Finish and resolve and characters you can't help but love.

Loved this book! My one criticism of the narration is the way Deacon Lee said “Rachel”. It drove me WILD and almost made me turn it off to be honest. The enunciation sounded unnatural, and overall I thought the narration made the character sound immature.

Was hard to finish. Tate and Miles are annoying. I tried to like it. I also couldn’t stand miles’s narratator say the word Rachel one more time in a row. I guess anything sucks after reading “reminders of you”. Two stars because I love coho so much. But really I’d like to give it just 1.

This book was ok. A lot better toward the end. The middle was verbal porn and the narrator for Colin was extremely annoying to listen to.

It was good. Different storyline. Wasn’t not a fan of Miles’ narration and Rachel Rachel Rachel…

Very entertaining and fun to listen to. I gave it a 4 star because I thought that the story was a little predictable, although I enjoyed the ending. I also had a hard time with Miles Voice reader. But all in all a fun read that I really enjoyed!

I really enjoyed Verity, so maybe my expectations were too high. The plot was engaging, but I'm always turned off by excessive sex scenes. The end was predictable. Narration was great, or I would have given only 2 stars

Really disliked the voice of both narrators. The female sounded so bland. The male narrator was more painful. He sounded so insanely creepy/cringey. This was an audiobook I severely wish I read in my own head bc the voices really took away. Amazing book otherwise, I loved it. Absolutely loved the ending p

The male narrator's voice was not at all what it should have been. Definitely took away from the experience, and I wish I would have read it instead of listening to it. The voice of the narrator was weak in comparison to the description. Both characters were desperate, and the repeat of "favorite words" was getting annoying.

I really liked this book. It was funny, at some points, made me chuckle. It held my interest. Love is ugly, and breathtaking, and frustrating, and makes you feel like you are on top of the world. At least for a little while.

Profile Avatar

I liked the book overall. Female narrator was good but the male narrator ruined the character for me. He sounded like the male character from the Netflix series, “You,” which just made him creepy. I imagine it would have been better if I had read the paperback version.

OMG- the writing here was a mix between great, scintillating porn or sappy "make me want to throw up". And how Miles as a narrator said "Rachel?"- I can't believe I listened to almost all of it- but I did! Would not recommend.

The book was amazing! But I did not like the male narrators voice. It just did not fit.

Just cringe.. didn’t mind other Colleen Hoover but couldn’t even get half way through this one without giving up. Also character descriptions/ thought patterns in the book was almost the same as her previous books (even though the titles are unrelated)

I tried this book as there are many Colleen Hoover novels around currently. Battled on to chapter 11 but the tedium got the better of me. Absolute banality! Life is too short to waste on bad novels.

I rarely put a book aside before getting all the way through, but this one was really rather rough to listen to. After two hours, I could take no more! The story could have been good but the writing…. Awful! A scene that could have been conveyed in a powerful sentence or two, is dragged on and on with simple, repetitive words. And the narration is almost as bad. The male cadence is flat and clipped. Absolutely no emotion.

Interesting read. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who aren’t into erotic romance novels though.

Profile Avatar

The narrators make it hard to picture the characters. They sound and speak alot older than the characters so it’s not believable. It makes it difficult to enjoy. I can’t STAND how Miles say RAY-CHULL.

I loved this book. I felt that she put words to some of the loneliness I have felt after love and not wanting to love. I really liked the book.

Was trying to read it on my own. It started way too slow for me ended up just finishing it on the audiobook and it’s a good book just prefer listening to the audio then reading it by myself.

One of my favorites by Colleen Hoover (next to Verity)!

Profile Avatar

Not my favorite Colleen Hoover book..The narrator Deacon Lee was really hard to listen to, did not fit the character at all, and made the story very cringey. Storyline was a bit predictable and the "love" scenes were getting really old and made up 75% of the book, which screams cheap thrills.

Really liked the book but thought I would lose my mind if he said “Rachel” one more time. Other then that great!

Not for me. Not much of a romance novel kind of woman, so that’s not too surprising. What I thought was almost cringe worthy was listening to the narrator who played miles as a kid make that weird “teenager” voice. It was just weird to be an adult listening to what is supposed to be two teenagers have sex. Just made me cringe.

Profile Avatar

Great book to listen to while going for a hot girl walk. A little predictable but still a great listen.

I truly love books by this author. They are always so well written & moving. My only complaint…and it’s a big one…is the raunchy sex scenes. I wish she would tone it down some. Raunchy

Profile Avatar

Disappointing. I wanted to like this book, but can’t. Plot too predictable and moralistic.

Profile Avatar

The repetitiveness in using names in situations and the unnecessary drooling details kept me from finishing this.

Profile Avatar

Great book didn’t care for the male narrators voice so much but great book none the less.

Tate is a very unlikeable character. She is a weak woman who no one reading this would want to relate to. The only interesting parts are the flashbacks to when Miles is younger. First Colleen Hoover I haven’t enjoyed.

Profile Avatar

Miles' narrator is unboreable. Kind of creepy step sibling situation. I don't think I will finish this book.

Profile Avatar

Great book. I was a little nervous with some of the reviews but definitely worth the listen.

Well that was time I’ll never get back. Predictable and poorly written. Amateurish. Awful.

Profile Avatar

This book is okay, a little cliche, but the dialogue is SO BAD. It's full of cringy, repetitive sentences that are over dramatized and read like a YA smut novel. What could have been a promising plot was substituted for an overdone "lovemaking conquers all problems" trope. This book isn't all bad, the female narrator is pretty good, but overall this is book is a stretch on reality. The male narrator's voice is really annoying as well.

I will NEVER forget how the author pronounced the name "Rachel" every time. I hate that name now with a passion. Nice read though, 3.5 stars! Was pretty depressing that's why I rated it so low, however it did teach me a few things about the good parts of love and also the very bad parts of it.

I'm a sucker for romance and this is the first time I read anything by Colleen Hoover and I loved it. It was so heart wrenching and lovely all at the same time. Not a typical boy meets girl love story but something a lot deeper.. The heartbreak miles goes through at such a young age, and never really gets over. The narrator for tate was good but miles narrator did come across annoying and emotionless. However would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

I was very hesitant to get this book because the reviews on Goodreads weren't that great. However, my cousin read this book and really likes the author so I took a chance and downloaded the book. I actually really liked it. In fact I listened to it twice! Guess I'm just a sap for love stories, sad, happy... I'll read it. I'm also excited to learn that it's becoming a movie. I truly hope Miles is portrayed well because he's a complicated character. Loved the narrator as well, she made me love Tate.
