Summary
Some people are born boring. Some live boring. Some even die boring. Fred managed to do all three, and when he woke up as a vampire, he did so as a boring one. Timid, socially awkward, and plagued by self-esteem issues, Fred has never been the adventurous sort.

One fateful night-different from the night he died, which was more inconvenient than fateful-Fred reconnects with an old friend at his high school reunion. This rekindled relationship sets off a chain of events thrusting him right into the chaos of the parahuman world: a world with chipper zombies, truck driver wereponies, maniacal necromancers, ancient dragons, and now one undead accountant trying his best to 'survive.'

Because even after it's over, life can still be a downright bloody mess.
Reviews

I love this book it's hilarious and unassuming. it takes every part or urban fantasy and flips it on its head. it is great.

It was a compelling read. The book would be great for adolescents and teens if it didn’t contain the sexual connotations and grody language. I would have liked it better as well. But it was well written and full of action and surprises. Very original.

A great, funny listen. I found myself actually guffawing while driving down the Garden State Parkway at one point! To add icing to the cake, this narrator may be my favorite narrator ever! He changed his voice to suit each character so well. I really enjoyed his performance.

A quietly funny and unique take on the Vampire novel

Entertaining, but 100% a Bro Book. Boils down to the classic story of hot, smart, talented woman dating a awkward, frumpy, decidedly untalented guy because he is Nice. The (2) women characters get to be hot and skinny (thinness being a point made multiple times) while the (many) male characters get to be, well, anything they want! Which often means being in positions power, and physically enormous. Also the sexual banter made me cringe every time - felt super awkward. Sorry, I know I should just treat this like the fluff it's meant to be, but I am tired of it. On the plus side, Albert the zombie is a delightful character who deserves his own spin-off. And the narrator did a fabulous job.

I enjoyed this book. I don't know if it was hilarious, but it was entertaining and different. The narrator was perfect too.

This book was definitely not uninteresting! This was a fun book to listen to. Great narration. I found myself laughing aloud while driving down the road! I've read a ton of books with subject of vampires. It was refreshing not have a lot of sex and gore. Just something different.

I loved this book, in no small measure, because of the excellent narration. The unassuming and reportedly boring main character as well as the building of characters as the book progresses was excellent.
