Unabridged Audiobook
I recently started reading this series in order and I just finished this book. It's the 6th book in The Vampire Chronicles and now one of my favorites. It's a deep dive into Armand’s tragic, messed-up backstory. Good pacing - vivid prose (as is a trademark of Rice). And I love hearing about the past events from Armand's perspective now.
I loved the book. Anne Rice has an incredible mind! The narrator made this book a hard listen. He has zero personality. I couldn’t wait to finish the book!
Another amazingly written story by Anne Rice! I love this series and can't wait to move on to the next.
I love pretty much everything Anne Rice writes, so my reviews are a little biased. This particular book is much better than its predecessor, Memnoch The Devil (which is my least favorite book in the series). Like all her other books, it's very immersive and you feel like you're in Venice, Italy during the 15th century. It also makes you feel like you're intimately acquainted with its main character, the young vampire Armand. She creates the most amazing characters, deeply and intricately woven, until you can see and feel what they're experiencing. Armand is one of my favorite characters.
The book was ok, but there are better ones in this series.
