Summary
He is an expert with the latest technology . . . a madman with the mind of a genius and the heart of a killer. He quietly stalks his prey. Then he haunts the police with cryptic riddles about the crimes he is about to commit - always solved moments too late to save the victims' lives.

Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the first victim butchered in his own home. The second lost his life in a vacant luxury apartment. The two men had little in common. Both suffered unspeakable torture before their deaths. And both had ties to an ugly secret of ten years past - a secret shared by none other than Eve's new husband, Roarke.

Never disappoints. Just making my way through them all. Always amused at how much vision J.D. Robb had - to think how long ago she wrote these books, and how accurate her prediction of the future was in many instances. I'll keep going!

I am working my way through all of the "In Death" books by J.D. Robb and I pretty much love them all. I really feel I know all of these regular characters and the reader doesn't miss a beat. She maintains all the voices and personalities to a tee with each new book. Some stories are predictable but I enjoy them just the same. I spend most of my days in the car. It feels like I take these folks with me.

I stopped listening in chapter 4. I wanted a thriller but the dialogue revolves around the sentiments and feelings of the main character

I was surprised by the "future" setting and thought it was totally uneccessary as none of the "future" technology was explained. Maybe if this had not been my first book in what is apparently a series. Anyway, the main protagonist is a totally annoying character. Instead of the future, the author should have placed her in the 60's so she could burn her Bra and scream at men who might hold a door open for her. She was totally self-absorbed and seemd incapable of caring about anything but herself. I'm done with this author. Also, the reader spoke in some very strange sounding voices. I was reminded of the old Eddie Murphy skit on SNL where he is disguised as a white guy. Sounded just like him.

Ok, I know Eve had a rough childhood, but she's got the great career, the great guy, great friends...it's time to get over her holier-than-though arrogant attitude and start demonstrating some good manners and common sense.

This is a great book to listen to. I drive a limo, and I work a lot of hours. This and other series by JD Robb, are great for they hold your attention and are quite interesting. The big advantage is they help keep me awake during long hours of work.

Another good story from J.D. Robb. a madman is after RoarkandDallasis out to stop him. A fast pace story set in the future. Great for commuting.

The characters in this story were not very appealing to me. I also found the dialog to be somewhat artificial.
