Was very interesting, but also a little too long in the unabridged version. I've read several Alex Cross novels and I sometimes get tired of hearing his life history over and over.
James Patterson has done it again! Couldn’t put it down!
This was a little daunting because Alex would never have believed the whole vampire world. But even so it was still a good read as I am a vampire fanatic.
I was not a huge fan of this Alex Cross… not a vampire fan!
As always Cross did it again!!
loved this book! couldn't stop listening.
Since I’m a James Patterson fan already, and I love his Alex Cross series I wasn’t disappointed one bit
To graphic and too many inappropriate words. Sorry , last time to try this author.
great story but went on and on when it could have been shorter
Could not make it beyond disc 2 on this. The idea of vampire "wannabes" was too far-fetched to continue listening
This is one of Patterson's better Alex Cross novels. I've been disappointed by others but if you ever were an Alex Cross fan, you've got to read this one.
Another Alex Cross story not much different than all the other Cross books.
Not the best of the series, but still a great read/listen.
Excellent book! Very suspenseful. You can't wait to get back in the car to listen to more.
It was very good.I am a fan of James Patterson so keep sending the selections. Thank you
As with most James Patterson, I loved the story line, the characters, and the twists. Most importantly to any audio book, the reader was easy to listen to and provided a positive contribution to the overall experience.
Alex Cross does it again! I loved this book. It was so interesting I didn't want to stop listening.
However, I forgot to tell you disc 4& 5 were defective but I got enough out of them to know most of what went on.
James Patterson continues with his excellence in writing the Alex Cross series.
The readers on this audio book do an excellent job.
I'm a big fan of Patterson. Another great selection, time flew by while 'reading' this one.
As always, James Patterson delivers a great thriller!! Murder mystery and suspense. Yes, this is gruesome, but it's still his kind of book - and mine! Get if you're a true fan of James.
It's a fast "read" and was over before I knew it.
Interesting tale that starts out with cultish vampire killers and morphs into a Mastermind story. Intriguing as always, filled with settings that vary as widely as their geographic locales, the story held my interest from start to finish. In fact, I always hate to come to the end of a Patterson book unless I have another waiting in the wings.
Not his best book, but not bad either. The plot was interesting and the characters deep enough to care about. I would recommend this one.
The story line of this book was a little far fetched. If you enjoyed Roses are Red this one might be a little disappointing.
The dialogue in this book was ridiculous. I suppose the action was suspenseful, however, if you are familiar with the "Law of Economy of Characters", you will quickly figure out who the "Mastermind" is. I really couldn't stop giggling at the awkward and unrealistic dialogue, not to mention the completely far-fetched family life depicted in this book. This is my first James Patterson book, so I guess I am just not a fan, although I did enjoy the movie versions of a couple of his books.
I am a huge James Patterson fan and have read many of his books, but I think this is the first one that I found a little too disturbing. Too many details related to vampires and their 'customs'.
This is a scary book about vampires. It is not at all the sort of book I like and had I known iIwould not have rented it. I would call it fantasy fictionor a rather evil nature.
Some of the characters are unrealistic and goulish, others are introduced just to kill them off. Cross is boring and lacks intuition although he keeps telling us he is intuitive!
Very good Alex Cross novel... Keep them coming. I love his tenacity and his way of solving a case.
I loved the bizarre plot. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what the heck was going on. This is the third Alex Cross book I've "read" and I can't wait to read more. This book is no Kiss the Girls but has some interesting twists.
At the beginning I almost gave up on because it was confusing then all of sudden it became clear and it was one of the best. Don't give up on it, it's very good.
Violets are Blue is in the chain of Alex Cross books. While they can be enjoyed in any order, check jamespatterson.com for the exact order of the series. Violets are Blue follows Roses are Red and is the best of the early Alex Cross books. Incredibly well paced and written, the books is enhanced by the voice talents of Kevin O'Rourke and Daniel Whitner who do wonderful jobs. The ending is a great twist if you have not read any books after this. A truly great audio book experience
The main characters sounded like two old city-rat geezers. Smart, yes; admirable, no.
I love thrillers, a great thriller has got to touch your fears and live within the realm of possibility. This book doesn't do that - the plot is absurd, the action and dialogue is cliche and Alex Case is so "flat" that, frankly, I didn't care if he lived or died - I started rootin' for Mastermind. ("Matermind" - too many comic books for this novelist perhaps)
Al in all - very disappointing. One more thing - a really great novelist doesn't need to throw in foul language for emphasis and doesn't stoop to trite descriptions of sexual acts - I found these passages very sophomoric. I'm sure 13 year olds would love them - but for adult readers - come on!
