In A Way with Words: Writing, Rhetoric, and the Art of Persuasion, esteemed professor Michael D.C. Drout brings his expertise in literary studies to the subject of rhetoric. From history-altering political speeches to friendly debates at cocktail parties, rhetoric holds the power to change opinions, spark new thoughts, and ultimately change the world. Professor Drout examines the types of rhetoric and their effects, the structure of effective arguments, and how subtleties of language can be employed to engage in more successful rhetoric.
Profile Avatar

Prof. Drout IS THE NARRATOR! The ‘narrator’s’ NAME is a misprint. I almost didn’t listen to this because the announcer’s voice (which may be the name listed as ‘narrator’) would have been too intense for an 8 hour lesson. I thoroughly appreciate Prof. Drout’s style of teaching. Prof. Drout draws you in with his easy cadence, keen sense of humor, and wealth of knowledge. His use of personal stories, relevant examples, and historical speeches, helps the listener understand what is being taught. This is a great resource for those who wish to improve their abilities in writing and speaking.
