From UK bestselling author Gillian McAllister comes an astonishing, compulsively twisty psychological thriller about a mother who witnesses her teenage son stab a man and then seizes on an unconventional way to try to save him, deemed “clever, original, and so addictive it should come with a warning” by Alice Feeney, bestselling author of Rock Paper Scissors

Can you stop a murder after it’s already happened?

Late October. After midnight. You’re waiting up for your eighteen-year-old son. He’s past curfew. As you watch from the window, he emerges, and you realize he isn’t alone: he’s walking toward a man, and he’s armed.

You can’t believe it when you see him do it: your funny, happy teenage son, he kills a stranger, right there on the street outside your house. You don’t know who. You don’t know why. You only know your son is now in custody, his future shattered.

That night you fall asleep in despair. All is lost.

Until you wake . . .

. . . and it is yesterday.

And then you wake again . . .

. . . and it is the day before yesterday.

Every morning you wake up a day earlier, another day before the murder. With another chance to stop it. Somewhere in the past lies an answer. The trigger for this crime—and you don’t have a choice but to find it . . .

“Another ingeniously plotted genre-bender… McAllister succeeds in making us care, and the result is a tour de force.” — The Guardian

“This entertaining look at motherhood and memory will resonate with many.' — Publishers Weekly

A surprisingly great read! I was worried it would be hard to follow with the story line working backwards, but it was easy to follow and kept me listening. The characters were so likeable and developed realistically as the story progressed. I loved the suspense, and it definitely kept me guessing.

Loved this book! It got me at the first chapter and kept a hold of me until the very end. I didn't want to put it down, couldn't wait to get back to it and then hated for it to be done!

Such a great storyline. Had me gasping and wide eyed. Wish the narrator had a little more difference in voices, but highly recommend!

I’m not one for paranormal or fantasy, but this plot was absolutely gripping. The narrator did an excellent job and kept good rhythm while speaking this well-told story to life. Thoroughly enjoyed.

An interesting take on the idea of the movie Ground Hog’s Day and Happy Death Day To Me (and so many others). Even though the start jumps you into a story that’s all questions and chaos, it was still a little slow. I really liked the slowness as it allowed for character development. We figure out what’s going on as the protag does and it never feels like she’s too naive or simplistic in her understanding. And what’s going on is really interesting, even if more than a little implausible. The ending pays off, but one needs to really-really-really suspend their disbelief throughout. Overall, this was a terrific story told really well. Highly recommend.

This book was not what I expected. It was so much more. I expected a good read, but it turned out to be far better than just good. I appreciate the love story between Jen and her husband. When it seemed that it might not be real, I was thankful the author made it even better and stronger. The lengths a mother will go for the good of her family should never be underestimated, and this novel brings that point out very well! The idea of being able to revisit some of our previous encounters was also nice. I often listen to my books again if they are with revisiting. I think this will definitely be added to that list.

This was interesting and had some good twists. Honestly, the characters were not exactly endearing, and I wasn’t invested in the outcome. Overall, I wanted to keep listening to see what would happen next. Enjoyable!

I liked the premise, and the twists at the end, the middle was ok. I didn't listen to the narrated version, but I can't not rate the narrator, so I'll give her a neutral rating.
