She has been awarded numerous grants and fellowships including a Woodrow Wilson Public Scholar Fellowship, the Hoover Media Fellowship at Stanford, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Black Mountain Institute Fellowship, and the Lannan Foundation Literary Grant.
