Summary
INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER: Agent Pendergast faces his most unexpected challenge yet when bloodless bodies begin to appear in Savannah, GA.

A fabulous heist:
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night…and into history.

A brutal crime steeped in legend and malevolence:
Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

A case like no other:
As the mystery rises along with the body count, Pendergast and his partner, Agent Coldmoon, race to understand how—or if—these murders are connected to the only unsolved skyjacking in American history. Together, they uncover not just the answer…but an unearthly evil beyond all imagining.

I desperately miss Rene Auberjonois as the narrator! Sad that he has passed. There is one other narrator that was decent but this here....not so good. Sorry.

I absolutely love the Pendergast series, however far fetched this last one is. I can't wait for the next one. However, the choice of narrator is horrible. Very monotone. We have come to love and recognize every character's voice, and this narrator fell short in every way. Constance is the biggest disappointment; she sounds like an old witch. Is Scott Brick not available???? He got me hooked on when I read "Still life with crows", my first ever Pendergast book. And we all miss Rene, my all time favourite..

From the very beginning, I was disappointed in the narrator. He did not give the characters any of their established personality traits that I had come to expect and enjoy.

Not quite as good as the other books in the series, but still a good read. Love the Pendergast series! However, this narrator is TERRIBLE! It was hard to listen to, and took away from my enjoyment of the story. Some characters' accents were hugely overdone, some sounding stupid or stereotypical. Constance sounded like an old woman (not the seemingly young woman she is), with a raspy, elderly-sounding voice. Even Pendergast's "honeyed" voice sounded off, nothing like the original narrator's voice from the other books (God rest his soul). PLEASE choose a different narrator for your next book!

It isn’t quite as good as other books in the series. The narration is terrible. It’s monotonous and, at times, ridiculous.

Didn’t like this narrator, his voice for Constance was raspy and old sounding. Hope they find a narrator closer to previous stories.

too far out

Will listen to this one a second time to really hear the story, which has a lot to say for it. The narration however, was largely off the mark. The varying quality of the accents was disturbing to distracting. I thought Coldmoon and Pendergast were alright to even quite good but Constance? I cannot begin to imagine the image the narrator wished to convey. The Savannah accents weren’t egregious in and of themselves but sounded as id at 1.5 speed, which is a big gaffe but perhaps not recognized by those who haven’t spent time in the south. Constance’s is the real disconnect. The search for someone or a couple of narrators to step into the very big shoes filled by the late great Rene Auberjonois still continues.

Narration is horrible. He should have studied a true southern accent, not what Hollywood thinks we sound like. I can’t speak on the storyline or the writing because I can’t get past the narration.

I’m on chapter three and all I can say is to just buy the book and read it. This narrator is really bad. Talks so fast, poor inflection. He did Constance such disservice, it’s painful. I miss Mr. Auberjonois. God rest his soul. :(

I've read probably all of Lincoln and Child and this is the first one I found hard to finish. The narrator was fine when being descriptive but fell short when in character...D

The narrator ruined this book and I would need to buy the book to even see if it’s any good. It’s too hard to listen to. Constance Green sounds like she’s as old as she actually is. The sound goes from too soft to YELLING. It’s awful.

Why change narrator it was absolutely horrible I think this was the second time but I hope it’s the last it was hard to get ion to the story when Constance sounded like a frog and Pendergast definitely did not sound like our favorite southern gentleman and I hope with that ending I know what the book is about
