Unabridged Audiobook
Amazing book. The long tangent on fishing really brought me back throughout my own life's fishing escapades. It actually inspired me to write out all of my fishing stories, and the people they took place with. There are two main themes throughout; England's part in WWI and the looming concern of WW2 (which, having been written in 1938, is a fascinating perspective to read), and the yearning for a simpler time, "before the war", childhood. It reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode, Walking Distance, which brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it. There are references to many writers from of the era, so have your pen and paper ready to write down a bunch of names and titles. This is a book I will be revisiting, for certain. The narrator was immaculate, as well. Don't think about it, just get this book.
