This book is spicy!!! It was on offer as a free member book and as fall is approaching I wanted something spooky. My fault for not reading the reviews, but here is your warning- it is very spicy. I don’t go for those but tried to give it a go and it’s not for me. Lost me at “my dad wants me to seduce a vampire”. To each their own, if you like spicy you might enjoy.

I thought I'd be reading a magical fantasy about witches and demons and it started off that way. then every 10 minutes was sex and smut literally every 10 minutes badly written smut. I could overlook the bad sex if the author had spent any time with story progression or character development. tried to finish but after getting to the last hour and skipping through the smut. a strong female who lived through hiding and an abusive father suddenly turns into a tramp the second she gets to a magic school. so glad this book was a bonus buy. save your time, u less your looking for a trashy badly written "romance" lol

I found it difficult to get into and very boring I couldn't even finish the book.

This book was ok, the female narrator was a bit irritating but the male narrator defenitely made up for it. Very spicy book and the second book was even spicer, happy surprise. The book moved fast, which was good. but I would have loved more world building in general, it was all "accept this becuase it says so" attitude. Im not into gothic things, so it was a bit of a struggle. But as I said, the second book was brilliant.

They skipped paragraphs through out the book and the part where Willow seen her mom in a dream or vision. I really wished they would have included the whole.book and they ended up off chapter count.

The spicy scenes were there, but I've come across books that were way smuttier. What I didn't like about the spicy scenes is that not only were they not adding to the plot, but rather they were subtracting. I would like the author to come out with a spice free version of this tale. I bet it would be an even bigger success. If you make it to the end there is a shuddering twist. Very non-Christian. But the again, it's labeled as "dark academia". Still, not my speed. I won't be listening to book 2. Note: I downloaded both volumes through the VIP rewards.

Not nearly as Spicy as I was expecting based on all the comments!! Fairly well written. I enjoyed the first book. I haven't started the second one, so I'm not too sure if/what changes can be expected in the writing. The narration is beautiful! Both narrators bring all of the characters to life and separate between them with accents and emotion. The writing itself reminds me more of a YA & Teen level for technique and word choices, but it doesn't distract from the main story. Just a lot of repeated words for description and to distinguish who is speaking. The spice didn't actually start to get 'intense' until after halfway through the book. It is brought up, or mentioned, throughout but isn't a 'main' thing until towards the last half/third of the story. It was a fabulous story though and I look forward to 'reading' the next installment. (⁠ㆁ⁠ω⁠ㆁ⁠)

I thought this was going to be a fantasy book. I definitely got more than I bargained for. This book should be listed as Erotica. At least then then the reader would be warned.

I loved it

I just finished this book and was thoroughly entertained . Both narrators delivered great performances, truly bringing the story to life. I first saw the book through a TikTok recommendation and was excited to find it in the VIP section for free! The book had a lot more spice than I thought just a disclaimer!

Definitely not for everyone but I enjoyed this.

The book kept me wanting more

narrator tried to articulate too much, very distracting and detached voice.sloppy, gratuitous writing with total lack of skill.

Great idea concept, poor delivery. It felt rushed and random. Unnecessarily explicit at times and had stories plots introduced that just never went anywhere.

The start was a bit slow but enjoyed the book.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this series and cannot wait until the 3rd book comes out.

This story was a good listen however I choose 4 stars because the first half was a bit slow and I wasn’t pulled into the story until about half way or so. Once the plot thickened I couldn’t peel away. It was a listen that I really couldn’t predict what was going to happen.

What a fun read/listen. Sorta figured out some of it before the reveal, but honestly could not “put it down”. Really looking forward to the next book in this series/dualogy?
