Unabridged Audiobook
I had a hard time getting any chores done, because I kept wanting to get back to this book.
I loved the book and feel that the narrator really enhanced the story with not only voices but accents that boosted my immersion into the story!
Delightful story of self discovery and strength.
The author is a great story teller. I kept wanting to listen to more. The narration was great also
I had mixed feelings about this book in the beginning, but found it very satisfying in the end. First of all you should know that it is primarily a coming of age story; the romance story is very secondary. Faye doesn’t even meet the love interest until chapter 6 or 7. The first 5 chapters she is dating this horrible guy and I felt so frustrated that she was putting up with him that I almost stopped reading the book. However, I persisted and was rewarded with an interesting journey to Ghana and a satisfying ending. There is a lot of unnecessary detail in my opinion, though I mostly felt that way about the parts in London, not the parts in Ghana. So it felt slow moving to me at some points. But overall I really enjoyed it. Also, the narration is excellent. The narrator does a great job with all the different voices, making each one sound unique, and she does men’s voices well.
Oka y. Kept having to repeat as my interest wandered. I cannot put my finger on what it was as I often listen to books iwth UK, Jaamaican, Australian and African accents. Reading the sequel and still no ump
I enjoyed the learning about Ghanaian culture and found the book entertaining but it could have been shorter. The repetition about Faye’s long legs was odd and occurred way too much.
