Unabridged Audiobook
Great start to a good series. I can't wait to listen to the rest.
I wish that the character Lily had met with a fatal accident, she was so annoying I almost didn't finish the book. I wonder how Janet Evanovich feels about having one of her characters ripped off?
Loved this recording. The narrative reading was clear. You wanted Danielle to fall in love with the ghost. He was a cute character always questioning the different things from his time frame to present.
It was a very good. Had some good laughs.
For some reason, I couldn't not listen til the end, even though the narrator was horribly obnoxious and couldn't create individual characters (all her women were the same over the top juvenile voice & all her men were the same stuffed up, holding back voice) and the writing was kind of amateurish, so I finished it to the end and was as disappointed when it finished as I expected I'd be. First, let me say why I gave it three stars, if I'm still disappointed in it. As I said, I couldn't stop listening to it. There was something in the story that was enjoyable on an entertainment level. The whole time I kept saying, "Why am I still listening to this?", but I kept listening, because I WAS enjoying it on a deep level. That being said, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It was terribly narrated and poorly written. It was a struggle to keep listening, so it was a love/hate experience. If you enjoy suffering to enjoy something, then by all means... go ahead and listen. The narrator was poorly edited. There were a LOT of breath sounds, many of them were quite distracting from the story. Then there was the childish voice the narrator decided to give all of her female characters (as I said before, they all sounded the same, so you never knew who was talking until you got to the tag liner in the story that told you, "Danielle said", "Lily said", etc). It took a while to get used to. And the stuffy, almost constipated voice of the male characters was even worse. Why she chose Remy Nordinger as her narrator, I can only guess they are friends or she came at a very inexpensive price at a time when the author had no money. Then again, the writing isn't that great anyway, so maybe it's not a bad thing that the narrator isn't good either. The author seriously needs a good line editor! There was so much added fluff description in there that the story would have lost a third of its length if it had properly been taken out. Things like, "...her right hand holding the curtain". We don't care which hand is holding the curtain. Actually, we didn't care that she was even holding the curtain at all! Or, "... got up from the kitchen table and threw away the foil lid using a paper napkin" or "She had removed her clothes earlier in the day and put in Hello Kitty pajama bottoms". Seriously, there is no reason for either of these sentences! They don't add anything to the story. They don't move the story forward. It's not necessary information that we need to know for any reason. We don't come back to it later needing to know about her Hello Kitty pajama bottoms. A good story only holds the information needed to push it forward. A reader has enough information they need to retain, they don't need useless information, too. This is extremely bad writing. It's fluff that's only there to make the story longer. She had a certain contractual length she needed to hand in, so she added more description to get there, just like the High School kid who adds words to his essay to make it a page long, so he can meet the teacher's requirement. It doesn't pass muster in school; it shouldn't pass it here, either. The plot is muddy. You think you know what she's going for as an ending, but then she adds something else that could be the mystery to be solved, and when you finally get to the end, it's so anticlimactic, it's kinda sad. You know she thinks she set it up so you'd be happy with her ending, but... you really wish it would have been the other way. It's a cop out. No bueno. All that being said, this is a story that you just enjoy the ride. Hate what you hate, accept that you can't change it. Realize that it's just a sucky narrator with an enjoyable story that's poorly written, and be done with it. I wouldn't recommend you waste your credit on this, but if you're in the audible book club and you need something enjoyable to listen to for free, go for it.
Kind of boring from beginning, but thought what the hell. It's a freebie. Starting getting a little interesting and then the ghost turned into some creepy pervert dude. REALLY?? Bring on some more Amy Boyles or Molly Milligan.
Well written, great story and fantastic narration!
The book was well written and the narrative was beautiful done …
This was good, had me smiling but perhaps a little predictable
Light mystery, fun story.
forgot i read tbis yesrs ago. good story and listenable narrator
At first I was a little annoyed with how basic the story was but it grew on me. Not a very twisty plot but a nice read.
I enjoyed the book immensely.
Loved this book can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series
This book grabbed my attention from the first page. Like the majority of good murder mysteries, it had solid character development, a good mystery, several twists and unexpected ending. It was both funny and sentimental. It left an opening for character development and left me wanting me read more in the series
